I'm trying to understand the capabilities of feature phones to be located remotely.

I know that if I dial 911, the A-GPS unit will fire up and start looking for satellites. Where can I learn the practical details?

How fast typically will it acquire a fix?

What's the battery drain of A-GPS?

Is there any way of testing this short of calling 911?

If my phone had a clear view of a sky walking to a building, but I call 911 from the basement, does A-GPS help me at all?

How can I trigger A-GPS to get better position reports without calling 911?

I can easily get a quality position report on the location of a smartphone... but can I do the same on a feature phone? Are there differences in accuracy between Kajeet, Sprint Family Locate, Verizon Family Locator, and MobileLocate?

It seems this would require a phone that can receive an SMS to trigger the GPS, which would then return a quality report back via SMS. Do any extant feature phones have this capability, or are feature phone makers really trying to jumpstart the smartphone market :-)?
