Hey All

I was wondering if anyone here happens to live in south Winnipeg, or in the Grande Pointe/Ile des Chenes area? For the last few days, almost all calls I try to make have failed, and internet on my iPhone doesn't work really at all. Telus support is investigating, but they say they haven't received any other complaints..

When I drive into the city and hit other towers, all seems fine. I'm wondering if something is a bit goofed up from changes preparing for the LTE rollout?

I used to be with Telus back in 1997 and swapped to Rogers after I got a deal that I could not refuse. Now that my contract is ending, I am looking at going back to Telus and am looking to get a new phone. I have used the Samsung Galaxy S2x and am currently using my Nokia E5 and would like to get something nicer.

I do some web surfing but love to text and check emails. The touch screen can be annoying but as people tell me, I have to grin and bear it as qwerty keypads are on their way out. I was considering the Galaxy S4 and the Blackberry Q10, and wanted to know which of these phones offer:

- Awesome phone reception
- Excellent Audio quality for phone calls and music
- Web browser and apps.

My workplace is in a basement only supported by Rogers and Bell/Telus signals are weak. I can always forward my calls to a landline but prefer to have decent reception for text and emails.

So what do you guys suggest as a decent phone?

Just read over here that TELUS is going to buy Mobilicity for $380 pending approval from the Competition Bureau, Industry Canada, and Mobilicity’s debtholders.

TELUS plans on keeping all of Mobilicity's employees and doesn't expect any service disruptions to existing 250,000 clients.

I wonder what this means for existing Mobilicity customers. I figure that they will shut off the Mobilicity network since all Mobilicity phones also support HSPA on 850 and 1900Mhz. It's also convenient since I think all of them DON'T support LTE so now Mobilicity becomes a cheaper brand that has no LTE.

Hi everyone,

We have a Telus locked BlackBerry Z10. We bought an unlock code off eBay giving the correct IMEI etc and was given a 16 digit code. They said to put a foreign SIM in and try with the 16 digit code and if it didn't work use the first 8 digits. Tried a few times and would never work.

Called Telus and convinced them to give us the unlock code for free, which of course was exactly the same as the one we got off eBay. We have literally 3 attempts left but it never works. Any idea what the issue might be? If we go to the SIM menu with a foreign SIM in it just says this SIM is not supported or something and then mentions about phone is locked, and does that with a few SIM cards. A friend unlocked hers though without any foreign SIM just the Telus one.

We're just going to sell it but has anyone experienced this at all? If you go to the Network screen it says this phone is MEP locked etc. It's super annoying they only give you 10 tries, do they think that people are going to sit there guessing a 16 digit code?

Hello, I bought the Samsung Galaxy Note II from TELUS when it came out last year. The reception in my area (Ottawa-Gatineau) is usually great.

Two months ago, I noticed that my phone's battery was discharging way faster than usual. I then realized that the phone couldn't keep its connection to the TELUS network, but only at work, inside and outside around the building (J8X 4A6).

The phone connects to LTE (1 or 2 bars) and eventually drops to 4G (1 to 4 bars), then to No service, then back to 4G, etc. I can place or receive calls/texts but the calls will often drop. Texts will send after a few tries. Web browsing works sporadically. It's really annoying and strange considering I had perfect reception a few months ago. Then when I leave work and the downtown area, LTE connects back automatically, full bars.

The first time I called TELUS, I was told that they were performing some network upgrades in the area and was instructed how to force the phone to only use 4G. It didn't do anything. So I waited a few weeks thinking they were working on the network but yesterday, one of my coworkers arrived with a new Samsung Galaxy S4 (from TELUS) and her phone has no problem whatsoever while mine struggles to get its signal. That's inside, in the same office, phones side by side.

I called TELUS back and the guy suggested to get a new SIM card. I will do that tomorrow but for some reason I don't think it will work.

Anyone here ever had a similar experience or has an idea on how to fix this? Thanks!

I've searched on this forum to see if anyone is having the same issue as me but I can't seem to find an answer to my topic.

Anyways, I don't stream video often at all . . . maybe watch a YouTube video here and there. I've recently noticed that the streaming sucks! I'm using an iPhone5 connected with full LTE bars. The video would take time to cache before playing. It would play maybe for 30secs then stall before caching again. I have absolutely no problems when I'm NOT on LTE connection. When my phone shows 3G in which I assume it's connected to the regular 3G HSPA network, the videos stream perfectly fine. When I connect to my home wifi network videos stream fine too. The caching issue only happens when I'm connected to LTE. :befuddled

Apparently this is not only happening to me but to some of my friends whom are on TELUS's LTE network as well. They have S3's, Nexus's and iPhones . . . all experience the same issue. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

I'm on a 6GB data plan and I average about maybe 3gigs usuage a month so I don't think it's fair that they are throttling my streaming like this. My iPhone5 is using the most up to date OS 6.1.4 if that helps. :befuddled

Nokia has carved out a nice niche for itself in the lower-midrange part of the market. Its specs are very similar to its sister phone the Lumia 620 which I reviewed recently. For $149 no contract the 520 looks like a solid phone. I can't really think of an Android phone that offers similar specs for that price.

TELUS’ 4G LTE wireless service launches in Collingwood and Wasaga Beach
Collingwood and Wasaga Beach are now home to the fastest wireless technology
in the world

Collingwood, ON – TELUS today announced it is offering service on Canada’s largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless network to customers in Collingwood and Wasaga Beach. This expansion of TELUS’ 4G LTE network coverage means that even more customers in Ontario can experience dramatically faster downloading and uploading speeds when surfing the web, reading emails or accessing the latest chart topping music and social media sites.

TELUS’ blazing fast 4G LTE service now covers more than 70 per cent of the Canadian population across approximately 170 markets.

“Just in time for summer, we’re pleased to bring our 4G LTE wireless network to customers in Collingwood and Wasaga Beach. Residents and vacationers in this region join more than 24 million other Canadians across the county who are currently enjoying our blazing fast network,” said Darryl Hutton, director of sales, TELUS. “We continue to expand and improve our network service, community by community, and with our new TELUS Network Experience app customers have a voice to easily report network issues while on-the-go through their mobile devices for the ultimate network experience.”
