Hi - I've tried to research this on these forums before posting.
Last week (after my phone suddenly froze), the native browser on my Samsung/ Straight Talk/ Verizon phone changed its home page.
The new home page (I can no longer access it) had the Tracfone, ST and other logos, and said, "To enhance your browser, enter your phone number and press send." The webpage included a place to enter my number. I did not do this. It's odd that ST would need my phone number for an app upgrade on my phone.
This page came up repeatedly for a few days, then stopped appearing.
Now the regular browser doesn't work right - it won't zoom anymore and it won't go to mobile versions of websites - every page browsed is the regular website. And without zoom, of course nothing is readable.
So ...
1. Does anybody know about this?
2. How can I get my browser working again?
3. Is there a way to reload the browser app?
4. Is there a way to scan a phone for viruses? Any recommended apps?

Since I only have one ATT&T sim and it's hard to get new ones, I don't want to lock the sim or make it stop working.

Currently I have the sim in an older model Samsung (At&t phone), but just recently bought a newer Samsung S3 also (At&T).

Can I just move the sim to the new phone? or should I not ever try since I don't want the sim to be blocked or locked !!!

Yeah I know, music streaming isn't supported with ST. I'm curious though if anyone regularly streams music and doesn't get shut off by ST. I usually stream DI.FM or SKY.FM on my morning and evening commute, I've been keeping track and I use about 20-30mb per day, usually 4-5 days per week. It easily falls into the unspoken limits which are suspected, of 100mb/day and 1.5gb/month, but of course it's streaming and I'm not sure how quick they shut you down.

Also if I do get throttled, will the throttled speed still stream a 40k music stream? I really don't use my phone for any data use, I don't even surf the web, I mainly use it for calls, texts, and the mentioned light music streaming.

I recently purchased an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S3 mini and had a T-Mobile sim card sent from Straight Talk. I activated it and changed the APN settings in accordance to those that Straight Talk provided. My calling and messaging are working properly but my internet connection is only displaying "E" I cannot seem to do anything to acquire a 3g connection. Straight Talk's customer service is no help. I have tried several different APN setting configurations I found online but none have worked; however, several sites suggested changing the APN protocol but for some reason the option on my phone is greyed out. I'm not sure if the APN protocol even should be changed. Any suggestions to help me acquire a 3g connection would be greatly appreciated.

I know I can keep my number when I upgrade my smart phone to another, but can I keep my end date or should I wait til just before time runs out?

I have an iphone 4 runinng ios 6.1.3 that was jsut given to me. I have a micro sim for straight talk to use. Now how do i set this phone up to get my data and mms?? Thanks

Hey guys...I'll keep this brief. I've been with ST for several years now and have been satisfied with it up until this last phone purchase for my wife (Galaxy Precedent a couple of years ago). Good phone, AWFUL coverage for us. I celebrated the arrival of the S3, which I've waited for for some time now, only to learn today that it has the same crap Sprint network that the Precedent has. I also see that you can't get an ATT SIM card for an unlocked phone.
My question is now what? I have a purchase budget of about $450 or so. Do I go with the iPhone 4? I really like the Galaxy phones, but I just don't understand the technology language (GSM, etc..) enough to make that big of a purchase w/o some help. We can't afford the contracts from the big carriers, and we don't live our lives with her phone, just lots of texting and occasional internet when needed.
All suggestions are very much appreciated.

i'm looking for my mom.....who would be new to smartphones. a year ago i had gotten done the BYOP into straight talk. I bought a LG thrive & the compatible sim & all went smoothly to run on AT&T. just learned that you can't do that anymore? buy a AT&T compatible sim from straight talk? so is AT&T out of the game? if they are out then she would love to have it run on verizon. Sprint would be a nightmare for this area & T-mobile is iffy.

So to work on verizon network what would be a good choice? does it make sense to buy from straight talk or walmart? can you figure out what network it runs on from the website? should she BYOP? what phones would you suggest? not sure of price range but under $300 for sure. any info would be great... I have an htc that has worked fine with my sim before I got new phone.....now when I put sim in it it has an X over the service bars.....I've done factory reset and now you can't call text or anything..... I can take sim out and put it in my Samsung and it works just fine. Can someone please tell me what I need to do?

I got a text message today from Straight Talk that said my phones browser required an update and to click on the link provided (it is a tracfone link). I have been using the stock browser on my Proclaim with no problems. I haven't clicked on the link. Did anyone else get this? I'm not sure if I should do this or not.

Ok so I live in the rogue valley in southern Oregon, bought a galaxy s3 factory unlocked phone and a straight talk t-mobile SIM card, took a week to finally get mms an web to work, but the speed is soo slow and spotty that I'm ready to go back to my big phone bills with Verizon just so I can have web and no more dropped calls, is there anyone on this forum that can tell me what I need to do to up my speeds, or can I switch to AT&T sim will that help, I love my gs3 it's an amazing phone but its doing me no good with straight talk.

Who's network does this new windows phone work on Art or T-Mobile? Also is opera available for windows 8 phones? Because ie uses alot of data and opera compresses the data.
