You want to easily find out if her phone will work GSM..... Stick your G3 SIM in her phone and try making a call first, then you can setup APN to test MMS and data if call worked. :)
To be fair, a large part of T-Mobile's network in rural areas is basically EDGE and LTE, with no HSPA to speak of. Testing VoLTE might actually help their rankings.
Yes, some phones can do both, but we know her phone (after you verify the check) can do CDMA on Tracfone, so why not stick with CDMA?
