thank you george!
While messing around with my V9 yesterday (I'm not one to use MPs, I prefer to have ONLY what I want, not what someone else thinks I want), I noticed a few interesting things.
ghstintheshell previously asked if SCREEN3 was on the V9. Well, kinda?
Pretty much when someone mentions SCREEN3 we all think TICKER. However, I remember reading some tech document about SCREEN3 and how it can provide a "richer user experience" or some such BS :P
So I was a bit surprised when I was fooling with the launch bar - the JAD file stated that it was a SynerJ corelet (hmm - sounds familiar). After installing and running it, a new folder appeared: /e/mobile/screen3
Now I HIGHLY doubt that this iteration has anything to do with the TICKER of old. However, its modus operandi is very similar to the TICKER, layered on top of the existing screen.
Anyway, I suspect that there are config files (perhaps in that /e/mobile/screen3 path) on phones that came with the launch bar installed. That should allow configuration of the Options softkey, what icons get put on the bar, etc. One wouldn't think that Motorola would build a monolithic corelet for each and every operator that offered the launch bar...
Wirelessly posted (SAMSUNG-SGH-I607/UCHA1 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 6.12) UP.Link/6.3.1.17.0)
so hytran, if i may summerize. what you are saying is that this OS corlet could be a key in allowing a constantly changing "portal" to various functions on the phone given whatever app you were in?
The only thing I don't like about my V9 is the inability to import my Outlook notes and then search and find them. Does anyone know of a way to do this or maybe a good PIM for my V9? I have done some searching on the JAVA sites, but haven't found anything yet. You may email me directly at cpnorth(at)gmail.com if you have any ideas. Thanks
So i'm trying to wrap my brain around this, I hate to ask but how does one set the value of the four bits to "FF"?Quote:

As usual, I think I only needed to do the bits in bb.
Rebooted and not only did I have the launch bar as before, but if I clicked the down arrow, I GOT THE TICKER!
But, comma, however, we have the same problem that I found when I enabled SCREEN3 on my K1 - without proper config files, the channels you are allowed are whatever is on some Motorola development site. No CNN, no ESPN, no Weather Channel.
More importantly, though, is that when you go into the Personalize -> Home Screen menu, there's an option for Launch Bar which will let you set the 5 icons of the bar :clapping:
Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a V9 for the looks and nice color (maroon/red/maha-whatever).
Does anyone know if the bundled media player does >192kbps or VBR MP3? I hacked itunes onto my L7 two years back, and I think it chokes on high bitrate MP3s.
The V9 eats mp3 formats for breakfast. :DQuote:

For what it's worth, I figured I'd try the SEEM edits you listed above on my V9. I admit, a lot of what you're referring to is over my head - I didn't install any corelette, etc.
When I edited Offset bb and went to my homescreen setup; it simply failed to load. Not surprising as I'm probably missing some config files.
The interesting thing is that when I enable bit 1 in Offset b9, I had a new option under "Personalize" called "Headlines". I'm guessing that's the ticker, but it also wouldn't load.
 I'll take a few tonight with the Kodak since Msnap doesn't work on the V9 and I don't really want to use the java app that's floating around...
Sadly, it seems that even fewer channels work now.
Edit all the SEEMs you want, if you don't install the SynerJ corelet, it won't do ANYTHING.Quote:

Still, I'm a little surprised about how much DOES work with a seem edit; meaning it's on the phone anyway, just disabled. Anyway, thanks for all the good info. I'll play with it a bit more as time permits.
