The v9x was available online Friday or Saturday. Perhaps it is sold out. (out of stock), I visited an AT&T cor store on Sunday andit was on display. I was only looking so I did not ask if the phone was available. Check your local stores.

I just bought a motorazr2 v9x direct from Motorola store in US. I live in India. I got this unlock code form ebay, but it did not work. Is this possible that my phone will remain locked forever. Can anyone guide me here.
Im thinking about getting this phone. Can someone tell me what are the advantages of buying an unlocked version. TIA.
Blake
now that the cell providers in the usa are required to unlock your fone, I see no reason to get one unlocked already...in spring08 we went to the EU and cingular/att sent me emails (after couple of days wait from calling them up) with simple instructions to unlock both our phones which worked fine and bought 2 proximus cards in Belgium without any trouble (except no net cuz their GPRS is 2100 band and our fones don't have that) ...that's all there was to it...put in the cards and they were working before we got to the car and bought minutes at the supermarket cashier in town.
Looking to replace my K1. The GPS functionality in the Z9 was crippled via some Java certificate to work only with ATT Navigator, not with Google maps. Does anyone know if this is also true for the V9x? TIA!

The codes for the V9x will not work. I've tried numerous unlocking sites and even called AT&T and have gotten the worng code. Apparently this code has 16 digits to it and the code that AT&T gives has 8 digits.
the code is different for each phone and if purchased in the usa you can contact the carrier you had there and they will email you instructions to unlock ...very simple to do and works fine ...comes in a few days
I had this phone once, but I needed to switch (to access our company's Microsoft Exchange Email). If only this phone had that feature, it is perfect!
Ok. Which company did you call. Motorola or AT&T. And can you tell me which email to contact to, or phone number.Quote:

Call them back and tell them, I had that problem too when they just gave me one right away. they looked into it and realized the change from the V9 to the V9x or they misunderstood the type phone and thought it was a V9. Just call them back.
Ok I'll call them back yet again. I called, they couldn't find the code in their system so they submitted a ticket. I told them it was a V9x.
AT&T has updated their website:
The RAZR2 V9x - Black you're searching for is no longer available or is currently unavailable in your coverage area.
At least they are giving us some information.
