I guess to make a long story short, I should just say dma files are locked. its all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Very strange, the same exact thing happened to me last night. I have one of my home made ringtones set as default but when I tried to switch to another one I made I found they had dissapeared. No sign of them in the music player or sounds section.
I plugged my V9 up to motorola phone tools and coulld clearly see the ringtone were still on the V9 but they weren't there when I tried to find them on the V9 itself. I thought maybe it was because I had bluetoothed the ringtones to my buddy who was visiting from LA last week. So I went into MPT and erased and reloaded the ringtones and presto, they are back in the music player where they were before they dissapeared. Very strange indeed. What the hell! I hope this dosen't happen when I get my micro sd and load them all on there?

edit. just checked and they dissapeared overnight. poof gone. What the hell is going on? Could I have messed something up while trying to mod the phone?

Any idea why my home made mp3 ringtones are dissapearing? I made them from my cd's with audacity. They are only like 10-15 seconds long. They used to stay on there fine Now they dissapear with 24 hrs. When I hook my V9 up to mpt I can see the mp3 ringtones fine in my music player folder?

edit..looks like any music I load on the V9 ringtones or albums dissapears when I turn off/on the phone. The media player says updating media finder upon reboot and then the music is nowhere to be found?

Now that's odd. Very odd. And you're putting your music in the /music folder on the microSD card? I've never run into this problem. Maybe your media database is corrupted and needs to be rebuilt from scratch (not phone prompted).

No, I'm putting it directly on the phone in the music folder. I just checked and the same thing is happening w/ my videos. Power the V9 off, then on and my videos dissapear.

edit.. I master cleared and master reset my V9 and it fixed the problem. :2thumbs: I was getting scared there for a while as I'm on day 32 w/ my V9.

Yeah...I can't believe I like the V9 so much. Even with the AT&T branding...it's a winner. It might be a phone I'll keep over two or three months. For me...shamefully enough, that's a big deal!! :lol:

We like www.bandwidthplace.com. The V9 shows speeds of 2.2 megabits per second and a 1mb file download time of 3.9 seconds here.

Should I select 3G or UMTS on the settings?

Anyway with the 3G setting I got 422kbps, then 529kbps the second time,707.9 kbps the third and 324kbps the fourth.

With the UMTS setting I got 605kbps, then 470kbps the second time, 605kbps the third time and 497kbps the fourth. Not sure which of the 2 tests I should've been running but these speeds are more like it!! :)

Nice! I'm no expert but I use 3G. My son told me about this site but he's kinda bummed that the V9 3G beats the snot out of his Verizon Treo.

RAZR2 V9 Speed Test

I just did a test at at dslreports.com.
HTML test 1 meg download.
Results, 318 kbit/sec, 0.619s latency, 26.38s d/l time.
I'm impressed.

Is it possible to erase the locked at&t bookmarks in the web browser(chat,news,weather,sports etc.)like you can with the locked java apps.? Thanks.

I've got your answer Duke. To remove those annoying bookmarks you need to delete the following files from a/:

DL_DB_BKMR_RECORDS
DL_DB_FACTBKMR_RECS

Once those two files are gone you'll have no at&t installed bookmarks.

The V9 is the first phone I've evr modded so this is like a whole new set of things to obsess about! :D

It may affect the Cellular Video key's ability to go to CV but if you want it to still work just make a bookmark called Cellular Video with URL: http://cingularvideo.cingular.com and all should be well.

So will adding the bookmark ensure that the CV key still works? Not sure I want to risk loosing the buttons functionality. Streaming video(cv,mobiTv etc.) is one of the things that sets the v9 apart from the V8.

Technique

Someone tell me how to force 3G... Outside my office building, I have full bars, 3G, but inside at my desk I have full bars, EDGE... Only once or twice a day does it decide to do 3G inside, and it's still full bars... I want 3G all the time!

ARGH!!!

It's possible that the 1900Mhz 3G signal isnt penetrating your office building and kicking the V9 back down to EDGE on the 850Mhz band.

If you did force 3G on, you might not get a signal at all inside.
