The Official AT&T RAZR2 V9 Thread.

I received mine yesterday and had to call for an exchange. This one is unable to pass tones/dial thru once connected to various services. Examples: when connected to voice mail, unable to dial any numbers. No tones, nothing. When connected to MEdiaNet, unable to log on to an email account, or any site that requires a logon or input. I hope it was simply a bad handset.

Got my 2gb Kingston MicroSD card... Put it in the V9 and it works like a charm :)

OK ... so am I right that the only way to get MUSIC to this phone is to *rip* a physical CD to Napster (with some funky name so you don't mess up the real album or playlist) ... then sync the funky named "album" to the V9 (with no art or track info)? (I never thought I would be wishing for an iTunes interface like I had on my SLVRL7!) Tell me there's an easier way!?

A much easier way to move music to the phone (if you have a memory card): Set the phone to memory card mode via the Communications/USB Settings menu. Then plug it into the PC. When Windows ask you what you want to do choose open a folder. Now open a separate Windows Explorer window and navigate where your songs are saved on the HD. Now drag and drop those songs into the music folder on the phone memory card window. Done.

Hmm ... I did that and the phone didn't see the "music". Acatually what I tried for the short-cut was inserting the CD and dragging/dropping directly from the CD with my tunes to the SD card ... I tried a subdirectory under the "mobile/music" and also a directory under "music/playlist" (that I created ... as it seems that that's what Napster sync seemed to do). But, the phone doesn't see the tunes :(

Unless the CD is a mp3 cd you can't drag and drop those files onto a phone. You have to convert the CDA files into mp3 format first.

Motorola has the v9 for sale now on the u.s. site for $419 both at&t and verizon versions. still seems like alot. There are guys on ebay asking over $500.. LOL I want one, had a v8 for a day. but I,ll hang with the v3xx till the price comes down and a new color launches.

OK ... I agree that makes "sense" :crying: Accepting this, is there a way to get album/track info after the tracks are moved to the SD card so they look pretty on the music player? Also, which directory on the SD card to I copy the .mp3 files to? Thanks!

i have a somewhat irrelevant comment....
my kingston k-pex uses a microUSB connector (so i can connect the motorola razr2 straight out of the box without an adapter)
my ti-84 plus se comes with a miniUSB cable so i can hook it up hook it up using the adapter. i don't think anyone cares about this, but i was happy when i found out that i wouldn't have to buy any new cables for my future moto.

I use tag and rename to edit my id3 tags but you can do it using Winamp as well.

The files go into the /music folder of the microSD card.

V9's finally arrived in my town today!! :clapping: I picked mine up from the local AT&T store. Color is actualy not bad, like a dark brown purpleish color. I love it! Slightly thicker than my V8 and the curved keypad looks better. It is easier to text on the flat V8 keypad though. I get perfect 5 bar 3G coverage here(not that I really need it, only use I see for it is CV, which works well) and I've started loading my favorite java apps. The construction is trump tight!! there is a very slight wiggle in my V8 when the flip is closed, none on the V9. :)

Just keep your iphone plan and swap the sim card whenever you feel like using the V9, that's what I plan to do.

The manager told me that they (whoever 'they' is) don't like to premier a new product in a large market like southern CA. They use smaller markets to sort of beta test the product before unleashing it in larger markets.

I use "List Manager" for Tasks.
I use "Money Manager" for Banking
I use "gbJotPad" for Notes.
I use "MobiTv" for Tv.

Luckily there is no java nag on my favorite apps. :) I will try Google Maps though and that will usualy tell me how bad the java nag is.

Yep! San Diego. You have to call a bunch of stores. I called them all yesterday and no luck. Today the third one I called said "we just got them in today!!" It did take a little longer though, I mean some people here(on hofo) have had this phone since last thursday.

I called every local ATT corporate offices in the Bay Area and most didn't even have a clue. As of 9-4-07 around 12pm I gave up and ordered on the ATT website. It shipped that evening and should be here tomorrow =D

I'm a newbie at modding so I hope all you nice people out there put up an awesome guide for everything soon.

Ordering my Kingston 2Gigi today. Can't wait.

BTW anyone know if I can order other razr traver chargers and use it for razr2?

It comes with a mini-micro usb adapter, you can attach it to any razr charger and it will work! :2thumbs:

I only saw the Sprint V9m... size sorta flat & long, but very very solidly built. However I am waiting for the At&t version to see if it has better review.
For those of u already got the Att version, few questions:
1. What accessories are included? Data cable? Travel charger? microSD card?
2. What can the external screen bottons do? Only music controls?
3. Howz the camera?
4. whats the 'real' battery life? If the stated life is only 3 hours, I think an extra spare maybe wise to get...

Now that the iPod touch is out, I am thinkin to get v9 for voice/3G data, and the iPod touch for high fidelity multimedia & web browsing when wifi is available. I wish iPod touch has bluetooth...

another thing... what is p2k05? What version is that? The latest is ver 3.0xxx ... I have the old p2k program for v600, which I am sure is obsolete.

Are PST, MSS, Midway, etc needed? How is flashing/flexing done? I also read somewhere MotoPhoneTool wont work w/ it?

You can only order the V9 from AT&T's website when you sign up for new 2 year contract right? .. If you already have service and wanted to extend your contract and get it for $300, you'd have to call them up and speak to a rep correct?

You can do it from "my account" on the AT&T website or walk into a store. As of tues. telesales didn't have them in the system yet for sale.

A couple of questions:

MotoSync wireless setup: Anyone have any experience setting it up and what type of back end (infrastructure) is needed to support it especially in terms of calendar and task sync from an Exchange server?

AT&T phone unlock codes: I had purchased an unbranded/unlocked V8 but it turned out to be a bad phone so I returned it. Now I am getting an AT&T branded one but know I will miss the features That AT&T has locked out.

Battery life: The battery life on the V8 wasn't great. Early on in this thread I read a bit about people changing frequencies to save battery life. I know I can;t expect the life I have enjoyed from my 3i but am open to any suggestions that have worked for people.
