I used pwnagetool to unlock my new iphone 3G 3.1 (7C144) software and everything went smoothly, installed cydia and icy... and so i added the repo to add Ultrasn0w and installed it, rebooted... but my T-Mobile SIM card says "Searching...." and "No Service" and I can't get it to work. Any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried everything, rebooted, re-installed, airplane off/on, Reset network.... but nothing! any idea on what I need to do?
turn off 3g? don't install icy? what's the modem firmware?
You can not currently unlock OS 3.1, you can only jailbreak it. If the baseline is 04.26.08, it can not yet be unlocked.
I don't have a choice not to install Icy as PwnageTool automatically installs both Cydia & Icy. My model firmware is 05.11.07, can that be unlocked?
I JB'd last night with PwnageTool and then upgraded to 3.1 also. Everything went fine, but I too have no service. :(
I don't want to unlock, but I have modem firmware 04.26.08
Unfortunately for the time being, if you upgraded your baseline to 05.11.07 then you can not unlock your device.

I didn't JB with ultrasnow. I jb's with redsnow the first time, and I don't need to unlock anyway. Did I do something wrong with my jb? I can, apparently, still downgrade to 3.0 since my ECID is on file.
A. I guess people forget to not upgrade the modem firmware when they update there firmware. Which is the most important part It's on the dev team's website, and I've said it here about 1000X times.
B. @aeromax. jb with ultrasn0w? ultrasn0w is to unlocked. I lol'd when I read that.

ultrasn0w = program (is that even the right word here?) you download on your iphone via cydia to unlock your iphone 3g/3gs. Only works with modem firmware 4.26.08

Damn so I'm pretty much screwed then until they update ultrasn0w... I just got a replacement iPhone from Apple so I didn't update the baseband or model firmware or anything. It was already on 3.1 with 05.11.07 firmware. Jailbroken with PwnageTool on Mac OS X, I had to create a custom ISPW and everything went smooth. Got Cydia and everything on there. The only thing is "NO SERVICE" :( Guess I just have to be glad that I got it Jailbroken and just wait for an Ultrasn0w Update through Cydia where I can unlock it now....
Would I have any luck if I downgraded to 04.26.08 or am I stuck on 05.11.07 since it's from the factory like that?
EDIT: My baseline is 05.11.07. When I tried Fuzzyband it said my Bootloader was 05.09 and it wouldn't let me downgrade. Since it only allows you to downgrade with 05.08 bootloader. Damn so I think the iPhone I have is just too new to unlock....So I guess I just have to wait it out until they update Ultrasn0w. Has anyone had any luck with this or is everybody with 05.11.07 and 05.09 in the same boat as me???

You can still unlock using Ultrasn0w after doing this Pwnage. You always have to jailbreak before you unlock, and Pwnage does the jailbreak. If you did Pwnage successfully, your baseband will still be 04.26.08 (not 05.11.07) and still unlockable.

i'm currently running the pwnage + ultrasn0w again with my fingers crossed...
ok, got it now. run in expert mode, make sure to check Activate phone. once pwnage does its thing, and you've restored using the custom firmware, it will retain your baseband at 4.26.08 (assuming it was jb to either 3.0 or 3.0.1)
use ultrasn0w to unlock using the instructions here:

make sure you follow step 4 completely - namely turning on airplane mode, then turning off the phone.

Since your phone is new, try trading with someone else who has the old baseband and doesn't care about unlocking.Quote:

actually i was using iphone unlocked 3.0 and i updated to 3.1 and iphone got locked
so i downgrade to 3.0 but still firmware is 05.11.07?
i tried to use fuzzyband to downgrade my firmware but it only works with 5.8 mines 5.9

I did use the new ultrasn0w on my friend's 3g with 3.1.3 firmware. Jailbroke it with spirit and installed ultrasn0w 0.93 from dev team's repo and i get no service after the reboot. Removed it and got the signal back, installed again and still no service. Any ideas>
