ATT GSM Rollout in San Jose Area (area code 408)
ok i did do a search and couldn't find it...
does anybody know when the rollout is for ATT GSM coverage in the San Jose area (area code 408)? i know san francisco bay area is in september but i didn't see anything about the san jose area. thanks! |
i would also like to know :)
for my 'rents sake ;) |
Uh, what? Do you actually think San Jose will have it's own GSM release date? I certainly hope not. San Jose is part of the San Francisco MSA and therefore will be launched on the same day. Do you really think that AT&T would be dumb enough to launch GSM service in only SF and not the rest of the bay? C'mon, think about this.

OK OK!
take a chill pill...we're just asking! for those of us who are not from the area, how are we supposed to know that San Jose is considered part of the bay area?! i was asking 'cuz my brother works in san jose and wants to migrate to GSM as well.
:o |
Well, sorry about the sarcastic remarks, but I just found it painfully obvious that San Jose is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. :)
|
how is san jose "obvious" of being in the bay area?
actually....... is it even part of "the bay"........???? SF is about 50-60 miles away from SJ........... |
lol i know.... haha were talking about the "408" area not the 415/650 area... haha :hehehe: :hyper:
|

|

Are you kidding me? Where do you think all of your Television channels and radio stations broadcast from? San Francisco. San jose is part of the San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose Metropolitan Statistical Area. It's literally impossible to have never heard a television or radio station say that exact phrase once an hour. I know that San Jose is not "on the bay", but most cities in aren't. Consider the Walnut Creek/Concord area, or how about Santa Rosa? Both of these locales aren't on the water, yet are part of the bay area. The most commonly used boundaries are as follows... Livermore/Antioch to the east, the Santa Cruz mountains to the south, and Santa Rosa to the north. I seriously just assumed everyone knew that San Jose was in the Bay Area. |
I think we are getting off the topic here...San Jose is part of the Bay area, period.
Anyway, I am happy to detect the AT&T GSM signal today on my Cingular Motoroal V70. I have been checking it for the past few days, and now it's finally here! Time to leave Cingular...if AT&T has the same unlock policy as Cingular. |

Looks like you'll be sticking with Cingular then. |
AT&T sucks at unlocking their fones....

AT&T in South SF Bay
I just reactivated a line with Cingular yesterday to wait for the GAIT phone. Today my T66 was basicly unusable because the AT&T signal was so much stronger than the Cingular. Strange thing is the T-Moble was working fine. The reason I had dropped the Cingular originally was to go with T-Mobile. I know they share the same network, but there is some difference!
Cancelled Cingular today! Not worth waiting for the GAIT phone, I'll just go with AT&T and T-Mobile. |
cool...
