#1. Thank you kbman, Mark_V, Goldmembr, and everyone else for making this flash possible. I just flashed my V9m with .12 a few days ago and everything went smoothly for the most part. It was my first flash and the guide outlined EVERYTHING. It couldn’t have been better!
Here’s my 2 cents on a lot of topics discussed all rolled into one. Maybe it’ll help/inform/intrigue some of those feeling lazy to read through the 51 pages.
MMS/Mobile Web problems:
I did encounter the mms/mobile web problem that a lot of people have run into. After reading through this entire thread and checking and redoing the browser proxy settings, seem edits, and service programming stuff countless times; it wound up being my RTT Data file that wasn’t restored properly in step 3c. I restored it a second time and long behold, mms/mobile web worked! And to think I was actually considering calling CS...
9 Icon View:
I did the “275a offset 0190” seem edit to re-enable icon view and it worked great. One little thing I noticed is that I never had the Brew icon in list view or icon view. I copied over the GIFs to the “motorola/system” folder, power cycled the phone various times and still nothing. I read earlier that deleting the GIFs entirely would give you the EasyEdge icons back, it didn’t. Hmm, so I loaded them back and still nothin. Any suggestions? Beuler?
Bluetooth Bug:
I have also had problems finding other phones over Bluetooth with the USCC firmware. Yes I checked to make sure it was on and that one was in Find Me while the other Searching For Devices… I have paired it successfully with my wireless headphones (HT820), headset (HS820), pc (PC850), and audio gateway (DC800). I used to have my friend’s phone (original VZW Chocolate) paired with mine so we could trade contacts, but now our phones can’t find each other. What gives? It’s either a bug in the firmware or a seem…
Other stuff:
After flashing and playing with the thing for hours upon hours, I noticed some features/settings that were no longer present. I guess these were unique to the VZW firmware… correct me if any of these do exist.
1. SMS confirmation icon in outbox (confirmed VZW only)
2. Inside & outside wallpaper option (confirmed VZW only)
3. Sync music player to PC (for dragging and dropping mp3’s to the phone)
4. Rotate camera orientation (vertical/horizontal)
5. Picture editing options (rotate, add frame, ect.)
6. Start slideshow of all images (now you create albums to view slideshow)
Multitasking Capabilities:
One of the main reasons I flashed was because you could hide the music player while playing music (The VZW player stops playback for everything). Here are the following things I was able to access with the music player hidden and streaming to my Bluetooth Audio Gateway…
1. All Tools except Airplane Mode (duh)
2. Everything in the Messaging menu except viewing pix messages (pauses playback)
3. Web Browser & Web Sessions (browse the web with music playing)
4. Everything in Phone Status
5. Everything in Settings except changing ring styles)
6. Everything in Recent Calls & Contacts
7. Tethering with USB cable (use as USB modem with music playing)
Things that Pause/Stop Playback
1. Camera (it will exit the music player)
2. Brew (also exits the music player)
3. Viewing Photos (pauses playback until you exit, music resumes)
4. Changing ring styles (pauses playback)
5. Making a call (pauses playback. I just had to try. lol)
On a Final Note:
I’m going to be blunt on this one because I can’t find the answer here… Maybe I’m in the wrong thread on this one, but the search didn’t come up with anything helpful so I’m just gonna ask.
How do you make the phone appear as a Removable Device with the USCC firmware? I have the default USB Setting set to USB Drive, but it still shows up as a modem when I connect it to the PC. WMP10 doesn't see it either with the USCC firmware; it did with the VZW firmware. I hate to say, but it was easy with the Sync feature in the music player on the VZW firmware.
