So I've used my E8 for about a week, and also luck would have it that I ended up acquiring a Nokia 5310 a few days later which I had also contemplated picking up, so I have a good comparison to with the two phones I was really looking at. Overall I have mixed reviews about the E8, some things were great, others not so much. Reception was pretty good, my typical experience with motos is they good rf, E8 did not disappoint. The crazy morphing keypad was great, feedback on it was really cool. I could actually swear I was pushing real buttons. Its hard to describe it withouy actually using it, but the responsivness and feedback that the haptics gave really exceeded my expectations. I actually like it better than a lot of phones I've used with real keypads. The music player on it didn't disappoint in sound quality either. I would have to say it has the best sound quality out of any phone I've used, including Sony Ericsson walkman phones, and I actually think it sounds better than my ipod. So now its on to the bad, that would consist of battery life, and the slugish UI. With an hour or so of talking, 50+ text, and an hour or so of music, I was having a hard time with the phone making it through the day. I would deffinately say I'm a power user for my device. If I have to worry about my phone dieing by the time I go to bed on a typical day it doesn't cut it. One of my biggest complaints about motos for a long time have been the slow UI. The transition between phone and music mode took a little too long for me. There was always a delay when using the multimedia aspects of the phone which is not good sinced its designed to be an mp3 player. When I go to reply to a text, there is also a few second delay after pressing the reply button in a text message, and I'm impatient. I really think the phone has an amazing build, along with the sound quality, and it looks great. For me the poor battery life and slow UI have kinda broken the deal for me. Although I prefer the sound quality and design of the moto, I decided to use the Nokia 5310 as my daily driver with mainly due to the battery life. If I knew I could get a solid day and a half out of the E8 I would probably use it as my primary device, I could live with the slow UI because te phone looks so sweet, and the sound quality.
