If your desktop does not have dozens of icons on the main screen its much faster response when switching it from portrait to landscape modes. Below is what mine looks like. Also if you're moving your finger across the icons, it will instantly turn blue and not be delayed. All the rest of my icons are in the folder that I called "Hardly Used". If I need one of them I will just bring up that folder.
