Does anyone know if Radioshack would price match?
$130 for the optimus v is insane! Even when not activated it will rival a ipod touch with its apps, browser, and wifi, just throw in a bigger memory card if needed. Buy a offline gps and its now a standalone gps device, like copilot for just $5. Also a low end(but not bad) camera and camcorder. Also 911 calling for free.
I wonder if VM is taking a hit on each one bought, if not this could really put the pricey bloated one laptop per child project to shame. If ruggedized and software were built to make use of peer to peer(multiple adhoc wifi) connections this could really change the world. GPS alone would be very valuable.
isn't this virtually the same deal as radio shacks $129 after $10 coupon & $10 gc? used the gc on a body glove case for $10.
Not exactly - for one thing it doesn't require any arguing when they see the 'phone orders' in the fine print, or that the gift card has to be used for accessories at the same time, etc. Additionally, the discount is built-in, rather than needing to spend $10 at RS again (so most likely worth less than $10 after factoring in sales tax or other places having it cheaper if you don't buy from there ever, like me)
$10 off coupon were accepted on both my dads and mine without any fuss. didnt use the gc at the same time either altho they tried. later used to buy bodyglove case which i was going to anyways so it was a great price. used the other gc on samsung mantra for my mom.
Definitely $129 at BB. Just saw the ad.
Yep, the AD is posted on their site. I thought $149 for the phone was an awesome deal but this is a steal.
Now I think I gotta get one.
Home ISP, RR-Ultimate WiFi, $90/mo | Verizon 4G, $30/mo Unlimited

Seriously thinking about getting an Optimus. I am currently using a Droid Pro on PagePlus.......
Questions:
1. If I purchase this from BB, can I use it on WiFi for a few days first or should I activate it as soon as I get it?
2. Do I have to port when I activate it initially, or can I activate it and then use for a bit (to check coverage where I need to be) and then can I still port my number from PagePlus to VM?
3. Are there any other Android phones coming to VM that might be better than the Optimus (higher-res screen, proc, memory...)?
1. You can activate anytime you wish. Other people have said it works on wifi, unactivated.
2. If you activate with a new phone #, you would have to move the account (to another phone) or wait 120 days for the account to close if you want to port to the same phone.
3. Check the futures thread.
In answer to #1- I have seen people talk about activating VM phones that they have had sitting around for years, so I dont think it will matter when you activate it.
that $129.99 @ BB is a cool price for the OV -- even cooler when radio shack offers it at that price point, and with the additional $10 off coupon.
the combo pack at BB for the OV is a super deal.
If my voip cant be fixed on my intercept I am buying an optimus.
