well, i maybe one of the first to get mine since i paid 14.99 extra for next day shipping. it's charging right now but i'm freakin stoked to activate it and do away with my damn Q.
for all those who are considering switching from the pda plan to a blackberry, keep in mind that it costs 10 more for push email, and that you WILL have to pay for a text message plan, as a verizon rep told me that i can no longer have the "2000 PDA SMS TEXT" package with the data plan i had under my pda's.
can't complain about the build, looks like RIM took car of the battery door issue, as it fits nice and tight on my 8703. more on this tonight/tomorrow as i set everything up and apply the necessary tweaks/programs.
oh yeah, and thanks a BILLION to roc a fella and the genius for dropping some info on us. i was a hair's length away from buying the 700p before i was presented with the info about the 8703.
retro out!

I'd like to know this as well.Originally Posted by cd1000
browsing seems faster on the bb for some reason. as far as basic webpages, the layout seems ok. on the flipside, windows mobile offers different view options for pages, whereas i dont think the 8703 offers one. other then that, set up, options, and overall access is a breeze and much better than any other pda phone i've had on verizon.
can't forget about push email. no problems yet!
Just got mine this morning and have it all set up. It's absolutely fantastic - much better than the 7130e I was using before.
As far as the Q goes, from an OS and stability standpoint the BB blows it away. I do miss the camera and media capabilities on the Q but I can deal with that for the overall BB experience.

Did they mention as to why the 2000 PDA SMS allowance isn't in effect with the BB and $10 extra for the push? Is this true for all markets and plans?

Got mine today as well (the overnight was worth it) love it so far just need to tweak a few things, anyone figure out how to use mp3's as ringtones? or add additonal themes?
the verizon one sucks
Use your browser on the 8703. Once the ringtone plays, click the trackwheel and Save.Originally Posted by Marv One

No. You have to use the browser for now. Maybe when OS 4.2 is released you will be able to transfer via USB.Originally Posted by Marv One
The news mentioning the BlackBerry 8703e are not less. The best thing is: it has a built-in GPS!![]()
So there is already a program on the market supporting the 8703e: GPS Tool Supports 8703e
Can you be more speciic about what you like much better than the 7130e?Originally Posted by sparky12
Sure. It seems to me that the screen is even better than to the 7130. I'm not sure if it is but it looks to be a little sharper. I happen to also like the auto contrast function as it makes it a lot oeasier to view in different lighting situations. The 7130 was not good in this respect. I like the tactile feedback of the keys much better than the 7130 and really enjoy having the full size keyboard again. I'm also a big fan of the extra programmable convenience key. Makes life a little simpler. The device is also a little shorter, though it is wider. I like the feel of it a little more than the 7130. I did have the extended battery on the 7130 which added a lot of weight too.Originally Posted by Gabatta
Obviously there are a lot of similarities between the two but the 8703 just seems so much more "BlackBerry" than the 7130.
Thanks, this is helpful information, as I am considering switching from the 7130 to the 8703.Originally Posted by sparky12
What about reception, and call volume as compared to the 7130?
