so its gonna be out in UK or else where other than Japan?
not sure how long it would take to get unlocked

well nice looking phone, really like the interior design
but exterior... well kinda look cheap
it would be nice if it was in black or white

Wow the first Softbank (only) phone since the handover from Vodafone to Softbank.... I made a link in the Sharp forums (where most of the Jap phone fans are) so this thread gets a bit of attention.

This is definately exciting and interesting news, especially since, if this model works outside Japan, it will be the first 3G panasonic (if my memory serves me correct) that isn't a FOMA model that will only work on 3G networks - so you guys in the US and Canada get a share of the fun... that's providing there will be an unlock obviously.

This model should get a fair bit of attention due to it's sleekness and thiness, unlike the NEC models (which I personally think are great) but the 802N and 804N still are yet to be unlocked.

I would be grateful if soomeone who can read Japanese could translate this article:

    http://plusd.itmedia.co.jp/mobile/ar...7/news026.html

I don't know what connector the VS series range of phones use, but as far as I know, the X800 and 3G vodafone's and softbank range of phones as well as DoCoMo's range all share the same connector for charging etc..... so my only guess is that this one will be no different.

Also, anyone else notice that the photos of the silver colour phone are unbranded - there is no Softbank logo above the screen nor on the external flip.

That article is just a report on the phones JATE authorised recently, and the 705P was one of them. Nothing interesting in it.

Jung, wait until around 3-5pm Japan time and all will be revealed. Today is the day Softbank announces all its next gen handsets from Sharp, Panasonic, Toshiba and more, as well as services, including HSDPA.

Actually I've got some good news. I checked out the FCC authorisation for this phone and discovered that the 705P is in fact based on the VS70 that has been talked about so often.

Which means, this phone will be released around the world, minus the Softbank branding.

    Hooray!

Sure it will be unlockable, it`s VS7 with 3G support. That means it will be a good phone but nothing special (if you compare it to Panasonic phones for DoCoMo...).

This is, without a doubt, what my dream phone would look like. Most of the articles about it are in another language. Any details on release dates?

It's already out, girlfriend had to have the Mode Pink model....
Pricing wasn't really too bad.. but on par with the 705SH I would say.
I'd have to admit I rather like the thing, I might actually pick up one or two for myself. :-)
