My company does not support Blackberry at this time. If I install the BBC software on my P990 and my PC, can I use the redirector software to forward my corporate email (leaving computer on) to my handset if I only subscribe to to T0mobile BB add-on for BIS?

Does the BB Connect software include redirector?

    Thanks

The software should allow you to do that. However, it would not be a wise economic choice. You will need to get the BES option, so you'll end up spending roughly $360 to use this software as a redirector for a year's time. There are plenty of redirector alternatives that will only cost you a fraction of that price.

Not sure what you mean by other redirectors. Also, I do believe at some point in time our IT dept will offer a BES.

Just so I understand your reply, you are saying that with the BIS option (T-mobile) and BBC software, I can redirect my outlook email (via vpn) while my pc is on and running outlook? No other software needed? I can upgrade to the BES (t-mobile) when we have a live BES option at work.

Sorry if I don't seem like I get it. Still a little fuzzy.

Not sure if the P990i's BBConnect software have a built in Desktop Redirector like the BBDM for BB units however if it does, I'm sure you MUST leave your computer on all the time to have it working, as it polls every 15minutes to your online email system to forward emails to your BBConnect enabled P990i.

Well, I installed BBC on my P990, configured my email accounts on the T-Mobile website; but cannot receive emails. I can send; but no-go on the receive. I tired all three internet accounts plus the blackberry.net account. Service books have been sent and resent; but still no emails. When I click on the reconcile now option, I get an unavailable message.

Does any one know what I am doing wrong?

4 hours and no solution. It seems the BIS will not work on my p990 via tmobile. Tmobile has no answer and rim would not answer their phone all day.

Does anyone have a solution for me. Under connection manager, it lists the blackberry.net; but for BES. I cannot seem to get the blackberry internet service to run on the handheld.

    Can anyone help me?

Trying to use BIS. Not even attempting BES. All I want is for the BIS to work.

Haven't been following this, but did you tell the BBC client when you provisioned it that it's for BIS (you have to make a BIS/BES choice there)?

On the t-mo website, did you change the PIN/IMEI to match?

Re-push books, and it should work. Worked for me no problem..

    good luck,
    paul

Hey Paul, thanks for the reply. Well, I figured out the problem. It seems if you are only using the BIS, you need to ONLY sign up for the BIS T-mobile service. When we tried using the full-blown BES/BIS option on T-mobile, it only wanted BES. I switched back to the BIS service and at 8:44 this morning, wah la, in came the emails.

I am waiting for my company to release itself from the mid-evil times and install a BES. When that happens, I will try the BES/BIS option. FYI...4 hours on hold for RIM and they never answered. 24/7 according to T-mobile.

    Cheers, Pete

Reconcile seems to working fine now. Unsure if its the massive emails I deleted or it was a tech problem that was fixed on TMO's or my BES providers side.

    I'm happy now.

I just realized something this morning. Once they release an update in firmware, that means we will have to reinstall ANOTHER BBC since the update will not be compatible with the current firmware (dramatic music, GASP!! )

This further means all saved emails and such will be lost!!

To upgrade, or not to upgrade. That is the question!!

From the sounds of it, if the changes for the W950i make it into a M600/P990 ROM update, it'll be worth it: more RAM free, can turn off all the fade in/out graphics, etc.

Maybe the corresponding BBC update would be a little less buggy as well.

    One can hope.
