That's perfectly clear... But what I'm asking is totally different: Right after it fails to read, does the phone still appear to be recognized and connected? Does the QPST configuration tool still see the phone?
The reason I'm asking.... When it says the phone isn't responding, my gut feeling would be that the PC totally lost communications with the phone somehow.
As far as I can tell it is still connected to qpst and right after I can go onto a p2k program and read it
When I tethered with DUN via the E815 I remember being told to have a Vcast plan to keep Verizon from seeing the bandwidth used by DUN. Is this still the general consensus?

The only way To "legally" tether with an EVDO phone to Verizon's High Speed Data networks (1xRTT or EVDO), is to subscribe to a $60 per month data plan from Verizon.
that is better suited for discussion in -> EVDO Tethering (Discuss in this Thread Only!)
and when you pay for the data plan, you don't need to hack your phone.
I have a Curtel PC Card that I can "legally" tether with but since this thread is showing me how to "hack" my phone and tether via the K1M I was wondering if you can answer my original question? And now my next question, after I hack my new K1M should I call Verizon and add a data plan for the hacked K1M? Will Verizon add a data plan to a hacked K1M? If I use Vcast and tether via the K1M like I did with my E815 (very limited basis) will that work? Has anyone else been doing it? I don't use my data plan enough to justify the $59.00 that I am paying for the pcmcia card currently. Thanks in advance for the clarification.
I called Verizon and they do not support tethering with the K1M. The only phones besides the PC card type that are supported for data are the pda's. Not trying to get flamed here but I thought some phones that listed "broadband" as a feature where able to be used to tether. So is this "How to" thread for legal use or what (wink wink)?

After I wrote my previous post (above) I read the link referenced in the quote above and it did clear my question. I now realize my question was answered with that link. Thank you.
Does anyone know the name of the archive for Qualcomm QPST v.2.7 Build 215 or what group released/ripped it and when? I see nothing on nforce.nl or any other sites that list releases.
