Great How-To! Thanks a ton for the information, now I finally have my K1m to the same point that my beloved E815 was before I upgraded (minus a flash for the camera). This was really easy to do, with the exception of finding QPST Build 215. The screen shots were a big help.
You're welcome! Glad it helped you. I wish I could go back and edit some of my typos though...
I'm not sure if this is the proper thread to post this
but I haven't found anything closer to my problem so here goes...
Subject: Problem connecting ampd.com Razr v3m to anything, except as USB modem
I'm trying to apply the various seem edits available at http://mark.cdmaforums.com/E815-V3C-Popular.htm to my ampd.com Razr v3m,
but I can't seem to get the extra 4-5 drivers installed on the v3m so that
I can connect to it using one of various programs like: p2k, pst 7.2.5,
QPST v2.7 build215, MPT, MSU, etc.
Though, I was able to get the USB Modem driver installed, configured
and have connected to the internet via 1X connection.
Note: I'm using a USB cable from the Motorola Phone Tools package.
I followed the instructions for doing seem edit preparation at: http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Prep-Work.htm
i.e. getting the latest motorola drivers at
developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers
(via http://mark.cdmaforums.com/1-USBDriver.htm)
and running pst 7.2.5 and connecting the v3m to the USB port
but the phone doesn't want to connect to the pst or any other program
except dun.
I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong or what could have happened along the way:
a) the proper drivers weren't recongnized or installed properly
if so, how do I get around or fix this?
b) or the razr v3m needs to be in some "Debug or Test or Update" mode
in order to accept changes to it's configuration,
if so, what do I do to get it there?
Can anyone please provide any helpful input on this? TIA
Connecting the V3m to QPST should be identical to the first part of this How-To. You should provide a description of exactly what you're doing and exactly what the results are. Elaborate on the "doesn't want to connect" statement of yours.
The Install Hardware wizard failed installing the 3-4
extra drivers, the ones that are prompted for
after I you start pst the first time.
It looks me like the windows can't find the asked for device drivers.
I did a search on google for: motorola v3m drivers and luckily
stumbled upon the following thread; another guy who was having the same problem
that I was, installing the extra v3m drivers i.e. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1128749
I read this and remembered I had an older version of motorola drivers
from hacktherazr.com i.e. (pre Handset_USB_Driver_32_v2[1].6.2.0.zip).
The ones on their downloads page i.e. USB Device Drivers
(http://hacktherazr.com/app/hackthera...zr-Drivers.zip)
I went to them and just modified the p2k.inf file as per his instructions,
then I went thru the install process again:
PST running, then plug in the v3m, and "hurray" the required drivers were FOUND
AND INSTALLED. I can go to the next step and do Seem Edits now.
hey i have my phone set so that I have to enter an unlock code whenever it is restarted

I know some phones can still do a *228 even though the phone is locked - and that then resets the password to last 4 of the phonenumber. Try that.
If that doesn't work, isn't the password visible from one of the seems? I forget which seem, but someone ought to know.
Seem 0055 0001 bytes E : 6 digit Service Programming Code
Also, you can use PST to open a feature file and scroll down to New Passwords field.
The User Lock and Security Lock will show as all 0s. Check the box next to each and upload to phone.
They will then be reset to 0s. Another words, PST won't read them but can reset them.
All of these codes can also be read with BitPim in the syn_feature file.
Then you can simply right click on that file and select hexdump and then read the SPC from line 00004D40 offsets A,B and C.
Look further up in that same file at lines 00001AF0 to 00001B10(3 lines)
they will contain the 4 digit lock code and 6 digit security code.
This may have happened if you used QPST to write a service programming to the phone which resets the 4 digit User Lock to the 4 digit MDN of NAM 2.
It's a little Qualcomm quirk...

If you haven't yet, spend a couple hours reading on Mark_V's site where you will find instructions for seem editing and links to needed software and files as well as instructions for using BitPim, PST, QPST and other related software to access your phone.
Once you understand the basics, unlocking the phone using any of the methods I described above will take about 2 minutes!
