I have a Krazr K1m on Verizon and have disabled the EVDO and have it on 1x. I would like to use my palm Zire 72 to teather via blue tooth to use the phone as a modem and get my e-mail. I did this with my v710 and worked good but with the krazr the palm connects to the palm dials the isp gets to the point of sign on and then disconects the phone and ends the call. does anyone know what i can do to fix this.
Is there anyone out there that can help PLEASE. I have had Motorola v710 for years and used my palm zire 72s to retreve my e-mail using the 710 as a modem. I just got a new Motorola Krazr k1m and it is a great phone, but I can't get my e-mail. I have everything set up the same and here is what happens. I go to the palm mail push get mail and look at the phone and it is dialing up the ISP. It gets to the part where you see the shaking hand and the phone drops the call everytime. I think Verizon has somthing to do with this but would llike to get it fixed.

thanks,
Yeah, they're out there.. you need to start reading this thread from the beginning and follow the steps.
And yes verizon does have something to do with this...

Because of this restriction, verizon has a "block" on the phone, which the steps at the beginning of this thread tell you how to get around... It doesn't by-pass that its still against TOS if you don't subscribe to the plan, but it allows you to make use of it.. Now if you get caught.. that is another story.. again, best kept in that EVDO Tethering discussion thread...

Verizon has changed the tethering ID in attempt to lock users out from the ability to use the phones as a modem without their data service. Using QPST v2.7 Build 215 you can easily change the tethering ID (by simply deleting 3 letters), and get it to work. There is a great tutorial that others have mentioned here, but finding the right QPST Version/Build is kinda tricky. I can't post any links, but I think I'm not breaking rules by saying that i did find a torrent file that successfully got me the right version. refer to the EVDO guide (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1018585)
for the directions and specs. Big thanks to KEN830 for the how-to.
Best of Luck!
Has anybody been experiencing there EVDO DUN being just as slow as the 1X DUN here lately? This has been happening to me and I've made no changes at all. Every once in a while I will get a burst of bandwidth and it gives me just a little taste of that EVDO speed. Is it possible verizon could be limiting bandwidth?
I am having a big problem with the connection of the qpst program. I got it to conect one time but when I hit the load from phone it would not complete the action said that it was stopped by phone. Can anyone help me with this. I tried to force the usb port and that is what made it work but could not get the complete load from phone. I have not been able to get the program to recoginize the phone since that one time.
Well I deleted the QPST software and downloaded another version and got it to see my phone. I do get a error that says the following. The phone has stopped responding to memory read/write comands. Is there somthing I can do to get around this. I don't see the IMP tab and I am thinking it is not taking off the phone. Is the model for the Verizon Krazr K1m because it was not on the list for the choice that the qpst gave me. Maybe this is the area of my problem.
Hi everyone, just got my new NE2 KRZR. I've followed the instructions in the beginning of this link and also looked through all of Mark's site but am still unable to do DUN through bluetooth. I don't see DUN as an option when I do a 'discover services' in my bluetooth places folder. Can anyone help?

The phone should act like a dial-up networking device even before this change. If not, the instructions in this guide won't do you any good. Maybe something is wrong with your phone? What services are supported?

Followup to my post.....if you deactivate and then reactivate from another phone you will have to do the initial procedure again with QPST because the 'dun.vzw3g.com' gets pushed to the phone again during activation. Just thought I'd mention this to help hold down the headaches, lol.
Not sure if this is mentioned anywhere where else in the forums, but I am having an issue with using my K1m as a modem. About a month ago I flashed the Alltel monster firmware. After setting up the EVDO DUN, I can connect at speeds slightly faster then 1x and get the same "bursts" that someone else mentioned. But I'm not too concerned with the speed as I am with the reliability of the connection. See, sometimes I can connect for hours with no problem. Other times I'll get disconnected from the network several times in a 30-minute session. When I get disconnected it seems my phone is cycling it's power. I thought maybe it was a drawback from not subscribing to BroadbandAccess, but after adding that to my phones plan, the problem persists. Is this a possible problem using the Alltel firmware? And if so is there a guide to flash back to the Verizon monster? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
Edit: I knew I had seen how to go back to the Verizon firmware somewhere. I found it on Mark Venture's site, but first I'm curious as to if this will "fix" my issues.
if you set this phone to 1X only, the DUN still works? i like to use the 1X instead of the high speed because I dont want to draw verizons attention to my account
