Where did you get that picture evilsdrx8?

Yeah I posted a thread about this phone over in the Verizon Phone's section today too
I like the fact it has an external antennae, possible pullout too. The only other phone like that, the Motorola E815 is the only phone that gets a useable signal inside my house.. maybe this one will too.. (fingers crossed.).
I just wonder if the screen size is at least 2.2" like the E815...
This may be the phone I depend on to replace my Kyocera 7135. I just hope it retains enough PDA to have a touchscreen and stylus inputs without the nasty QWERTY keypads and block styling that hinder their functionality as phones.
What is a mini or a micro?
It is not touchscreen nor will it have a stylus. Mini/micro refer to the SD card.Originally Posted by ZoomZoom Diva
I wonder if you must use a dataplan instead of the regular America's choice + Mobile Web. Since it seems to be more a smartphone rather than pda phone, they shouldnt force you to pay twice as much
I don't understand the point of the phone, then. It has a PDA operating system, but the interface essentially prevents you from using it as such.
Looks like I might be forced to keep my Kyocera 7135 then and hope it lasts a very long time, as there isn't a phone that even comes close on the market right now.
I would call it a "Hybrid" phone.. for those wanting the windows operating system (no Verizon UI) in a flip phone format.Originally Posted by ZoomZoom Diva

It doesn't have a touchscreen, doesn't have a stylus. I got mine in the mail yesterday and haven't decided if I am going to keep it or not. Still doing research to see if it will interface with my mac.
Sad that it doesn't have a stylus.
Don't mean to sound snide, but didn't you understand that it lacked a touchscreen before buying it? It is a Smartphone, not a Pocket PC. Smartphones don't have touchscreens and, therefore, don't use a stylus.Originally Posted by klimbien
As for interfacing with your Mac, please be more specific. Tethering with the Mac and the 820 works fine, both over bluetooth and with USB. As far as syncing data, you have two options (just as you would with any WM device -- PPC or Smartphone). You can sync both your 820 and your Mac with an exchange server, the latter using Entrourage. Or you can purchase Missing Sync and sync the 820 directly to the Mac.
You might want to take a look at the 820-specific forum here (in the Verizon/PDA forum) or the 820 wiki for more information. Thus far, the user reviews of the Pantech smartphone have been uniformally positive, especially from former users of "higher end" full PPC devices.
Yeah, I was aware that it wouldn't have a stylus. Just venting... I was hoping though that it would have more options for typing. I dislike the guessing system that it has, the same as the razr, I'd prefer the old school T9 like what was on the most basic phones like the LG-VX3200. I really wish that another clam shell/flip phone more like the Kyocera 7135 would come out...Just more reliable. The reliability that I think I will find with the PN-820.
There might actually be a way to download the typing style I prefer, but still haven't really had time to look into what the phone will do. I appreciate the info on the modem use though. thanks

Anyone know what the phone functionality is like yet? I'm mainly interested in reception and speaker quality. I've had a Motorola E815, which I feel is perhaps one of the best clamshells out there, and I've been using a Q for a couple months. Both offer (in my opinion) good quality speakers, with the E815 on the better side.
I'm planning on selling the Q on eBay; it's a silver Q that I got a black housing for, with a TON of extras, but it's just a little too bulky for me. I prefer the clamshell designs, and was going to just go back to the E815, but I really like having the Outlook contacts on a smartphone. I'm considering the PN-820, as it seems to marry the best of the E815 and the Q, but I'd love some other opinions.
