Hello,
I was test driving 2000 Honda Accord SE last night and when I start it Check engine would blink for about 2-3 seconds. Is this normal for that model?
Thank you!!!

I don't think that's normal. Have you tighten your gasoline tank cover?

Yes, thats true, but I drive another accord (2001) and "Check engine" doesn't stay blinking. On the car I tested it would blink for 2-3 seconds.Originally Posted by slickNsxy
No, I didn't know what that could be. Gasoline tank cover might cause something like this?Originally Posted by plumers
My TSX does that when it needs to go in for service. Right before it stays on solid while driving.

yea it might mean a service is coming up. i know my corolla has a MAINT REQ light that blinks a few times when ur coming up on 5k miles, then blinks a lot more when you're closer, the stays solid once you hit 5k.
I googled this and found this link:
http://www.faqfarm.com/Q/How_do_you_...a_Honda_Accord
It appears that the light turns on to remind the driver about doing maintenance (it didn't do this on my old 98 Civic).
It also tells you how to reset the light without going into the fusebox:
THIS IS HOW YOU RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE 99 HONDA ACCORD. 1. With the Car Off, Press and hold down the Odometer Trip Reset Button. 2. While still pressing the Trip Reset Button, Turn the Ignition Key half way on where all your oil, check engine lights etc.. turn on. Don't turn it as far as you would to normally start the car. Wait a few seconds and the Check engine light will turn off. 3. Turn the key back to the Off position and you're done. What a scam Honda has with the BS Check Engine Light.
Thank you guys for your help!!!
It's a maintenance reminder signal.
If it's maintennance reminder signal, you can easily reset them by yourself.
I wish i could know whats wrong with my camry![]()
If your check enginr light is on, try disconnecting the battery for an hour or so to reset the computer.Originally Posted by dynamo768

My mom's DRL light stays on all the time (i think). Thats normal.
