Questions I'd like to have answered and added to the FAQ if possible:
OZ IM client uses text messaging like MDA or GPRS like Agile?
Run java apps (like Google Mobile)? (It appears this is the case, as Opera and GMM seem to be running)
Do I have to select allow GPRS to connect to the internet each time I run pie or some app that needs internet access like I did with the MDA? If so does the registry hack for the MDA work?
Ok I was so pissed off at the stupid T-mo background so I decided to poke around and see how to remove/change it.
I found the reg key here:
HKLM/Security/Phone/Skin/PROGRESS/Landscape/other
It points a string called bmpNormal which has a value of \Windows\BackgroundImage_Land.bmp. Now if you remove that file its gone of course but you can replace it with another image too it seems. Now another interesting thing is if I open the image in Infraview it says its a JPG with a incorrect extension... So you can remove the entry in the registry or change the image.
Yeah I found it after I made that post but it didn't work so I just called and added the 29.99 plan.
Woohoo to that not working either.
The phone already froze on me and I've not even had it for an hour. All I was doing was IMing with the IM client and it completely locked and I had to pull the battery. I'm going to give it a try but at this point, I'm ready to jump providers.
Can the Dash sync with Outlook Express on a PC? This way if you read an email from the Dash, it shows as read when you get to a PC and look at your Outlook Express inbox? If you delete an email from the Dash, it deletes from the PC and vice versa?

Small Dash Tip:
The Q W E R row of keys and the A S D F row correspond to program icons in the program menu.
So instead of "cursoring" over and pressing the action button to launch an application, just press the corresponding button (just like keys 1 - 9 on standard smartphones) --only now you've got 8 keys to work with.
ER, the easiest way to hard reset is to go to accessories - > clear storage. there is a key combination but that can get confusing if you're not familiar with wm5
Futurestars, with Outlook, yes. Outlook express, I highly doubt it without some 3rd party app which might not exist. As far as activesync has been around, it has only supported Outlook.
This thing is pretty glitchy. Its frozen twice on me in the 3 hours I've had it. If the hard reset doesn't work, its going right back to T-Mo and I'm going to Sprint and getting a 6700 and saving myself 30 dollars a month.

Check the HTC forum under the thread: Dash weirdness. There are some other reports of weird happenings.
I haven't had it freeze on me however. Do you remember what you were doing/installing when it froze? I've found the smartphone platform to be pretty solid (my sda has the honor of being the best phone I've ever owned and that's saying a lot)
BTW, if you switch your plan to a blackberry plan online, it works just like a the unlimited internet plan and it's only 19. --should you decide to stay with t-mo that is.
As for me, if the Dash doesn't work out, I'll probably go with a Prophet instead (PPC platform) though the one handed operation of smartphones are hard to beat...
