Confirm/Deny: You CAN NOT send/recieve MMS Messages on a WM5.0 phone on Rogers

There is not 1 document on this site that is confirmed working (i've tried all of them) and i've yet to see 1 person say that they can Send AND Recieve MMS messages on a Windows Mobile 5.0 Phone.

I have a MDA and it simply does not work. Many people can SEND but not recieve.

    Prove me Wrong/Right?

Rogers has disabled the option to send MMS on a Windows Mobile phone. I have the HP6515 with win2003 and can send, but not receive. Rogers "recommends" using Email to send receive attachments ( IE Video, photos etc...) from the Rogers 6515 page.... "Multimedia Messaging Service is not supported with this device. Picture and Video Messaging can be accessed through email. "

I have called CS as well to confirm that I must use email to receive video or photos.

this is good to know since I'm sure it will influence Rogers customers to think twice about buying a WM mobile device.

I had it working (though I never used it beyond a few days) on my MDA back when I had one, I wrote up a little write-up on my blog here.

Called Rogers Data to check on this as I am looking to buy a PPC phone and they confirmed that they have blocked this service due to problems that they were having. They claim to be working on a fix but could offer no date.

On another note, I asked what PPC phones they had in testing and was told of an HP 3G device being tested. I asked if he ment a HTC phone and he said that it was definately an HP device. Anyone heard anymore on this?

very interesting thread. i own a t-mobile SDA <qtek 8300> and have a feeling that i cannot receive MMS, either.

i know that i cannot download ringtunes from rogers.com, also.

    it's very strange.

I can send and receive fine on my SP5 (aka HTC Tornado)... always have been able to. Okay, well not 100% fine because I've noticed that the character encoding seems to be a bit off on some of my outgoing messages... but other than a few garbled characters it works no problem.

YMMV of course because MMS clients differ from one WM5 phone to another. But if you can't get it to work make sure to double check your settings. (http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/369490-1.html)

i never had a problem sending, but receiving was hit or miss. sometimes pics would show up and surprise me, but it seemed that only 10% of mms messages reached me. last year i was able to receive messages on my sp5 without problems, but rogers must have changed something because it went from 100% success rate to about 10%

Yeah, I can send and recieve normally on my 8525 on Fido. Should be the same as on Rogers...

Too bad that Fido's biggest MMS package is only 25 messages per month.

Well I usually send free picture emails through my hiptop anyhow!
Phone 1: FIDO $56 unlimited Smart plan (LTE MAX)
Phone 2: WIND $40 unlimited Wish plan (HSPA+)
Laptop: WIND $15 AITF unlimited data (HSPA+)

I know I can send on my Treo 750v but no one ever sends me any so I have not checked that. So, if someone who can send wants to try, send to seven seven eight nine nine nine eight nine four six and put in the message from HoFo that would be great.
