    Motorola RAZR V3c: New Firmware - GATW_01.18.02 [2006-11-15]

I have it! If someone can explain to me how to back it up so I can distribute. That would be great.

    Define "have it".

Is it on your phone, or a computer?

I have it on the phone. I have flashed in the past and I think the MultiFlax Flex program backs up the firmware before it flashs the firmware. But I dont want to lose it. I fought with the Verizon store just to get it on the phone.

Unless you have an .shx for us, there's not much anybody can do. MFF only "backs up" the firmware it's actually flashing, and even then it's just splitting the .shx into code groups.

Edit: Nevermind... I'll check to see if local stores have it.

Update: I can confirm it has been pushed to stores on the west coast.

Just got the firmware. Here's how it goes so far...

The Good: It does fix problems with Mobile IM not working after being updated. MIDI Ringtones sound lounder, but difficult to compare without another V3c.
The Bad: No File Transfer Protocol... not that this wasn't expected.

OK so verizon locks the file transfer protocol out for good in this new firmware.

or did you do an upgrade from a v3c that had file transfer enabled??

The firmware controls OBEX folks. There were two versions of GATW_01.15.04... one that had FTP, one that didn't. Version 01.15.04 was released by mistake with FTP... there was no reason to expect 01.18.02 would have any form of OBEX/FTP.

Does anyone know if the new firmware fixes the .04 problem with message notifications not showing up if they were received while the phone was powered off?

Just got upgraded from 4.04 to 1.18 (in-store) since I'm going to need VZ Navigator for the holidays.

OBEX appears to be quite disabled.

I had forgotten how fugly the VZW UI is...

Flashed from stock 03 (with only one MPT-MS seem edit done) to 01.18.02 past Sunday.
    - Much faster menu response
    - battery now last much longer (battery 9 months old) than before flash
    - No issue to report. Have to redo MPT-MS seem edit.

I just had my V3C phone upgraded to 01.18.02 (previously 01.15.04, no obex) at a store. However the Voicemail indicator bug is still there (not fixed).

Basically if 1 or more voicemails come while the phone is off, the indicator does not turn on when the phone is powered up.

The actually count of voicemails in the message menu display does increment to (1, 2 or ...) to show the waiting messages within about 30 seconds after power. So the phone knows that voice mails are there. However the home screen voicemail indicator icon does not turn on (even after making and receiving calls, etc.). The home screen voicemail indicator icon will turn on if you get one more voicemails while the power is on, or, if you cycle power one more time after the voicemail count on the phone message menu has already incremented.

As far as other changes or updates in 01.18.02, I have not noticed any differences so far. I was hoping that maybe it would improve battery life in marginal EVDO area's but its too soon to tell.

Is anyone having issues viewing videos that are sent to them with this flash? When I go to open a video it sends me back to the message screen.

Folks, I have some bad news about this firmware. It appears to have blocked EFS writing of system files (like nvm_factory). Essentially, it has moved or hidden the ability to bypass dun.vzw3g.com by editing it out.
