Question Need some suggestions on Tri-Bands...

I'm currently using a 8260 and will be purchasing a Tri-Band phone soon, my choices are s40 or t39 (t68 is over my budget). Anyone have experience with these phones on Rogers' GSM?
(NOTE: I don't have a landline and I use my mobile only)

Also, how do I get a sim card from Rogers for my Tri-Band? Will I be able to keep the same phone number? How much will it cost me if any?

I am using T39 and T68 on Rogers, reception wise, T39 is better (than T68), with the IAT-10 antenna, I can even make and receive calls in the basement. I would imagine T39's reception is more or less the same as your current 8260, if not better. Depending on where you live, if you get a strong signal, voice quality on GSM is much better than PCS.

You should call Rogers CS and have them mail the SIM to you. It should cost you $25, and yes, you can keep your same phone number.

Talking t39 is the way to go.

however, rogers is no longer sending out sim cards, unless u already have an active one on your account. they will only send replacement ones. Also, the unofficial - official price of sim cards- which can only be obtained at the dealers now is 150 can dols - ridiculous huh?

and so it goes at rogers....

    Thats too bad!
I was going to order another sim card from rogers for my second account with them. (I got one directly from rogres for my first account last month)

Did anyone try to order sim card from rogers after the new year and get refused?

I think what Rogers is doing is stupid.

I mean, which situation is better for rogers?

A: Having part of the monthly payment from the customer go to the subsidization of a new cellular phone

    OR

B: Selling them a sim card thus making the monthly payments more profitable.

I would think so because the CSR told me I could call and activate it any time I want.

I'm already on Rogers GSM. If my friend wants a Rogers sim (cos he has an unlocked GSM phone already), do you think I could call in to Rogers CS and ask for a new sim card for cdn$25 to activate another account for my friend? Or is Rogers gonna tell me to go to one of their dealers to get the sim for cdn$150 or more?

I don't think Rogers will send you another one unless this is a replacement.

Of course there is no harm to try

i think it depends on the CSR you talk to, some of them will send a sim to you for $25, while others wont.

I think if you still have an existing account with rogers you can get the SIM card for $25.00
