im with the other guy i dont lie and dont know of any new nextel phones probrobaly wouldnt recommend them anyway because most nextel cust are pissed about the service coverage and most likely result in them yelling at me and them then getting a beat down i try to avoid that if i can i try and recommend sprint to new cust.
Nextel...dying a death of a thousand (Sprint pin-drop) pricks.

Guess they better get cracking on that EVDO-A deployment. I still don't have it at my house, but there's a Nextel tower maybe a mile from my place. Guess I won't be getting one of these for a while...
Well, I must admit I see two positive things that I have seen in question lately.
1.) You will have the "Option" to have either one number or a DC and a Phone Number.
I think it is good to be able to give people the choice, but i don't really see how that works without further details.
2.) All phones will have a "Variation" of the orginal Nextel Chirp.
Let's hope it's not a really distantly related but slightly efeminite "Variation" such as the one Verizon has on their PTW. Hopefully it will be really similar and won't be awful. Better yet, they should make it where you can actually select the incomming and out going chirp sound and let the orginal Nextel sounds be one of those choices; then everyone's happy!
That is if that sound is not proprietary to Motorola and it can be allowed.

Great post Gomer!
I agree man with everything you said..This is great news..But I am also wondering how will that 1 number thing work...How will we be able to Direct Connect with someone who has 1 of these...If they come out with better phones like a PDA then I may switch over to Sprint..I have the ic902 now and I'm loving except for the occasional time where someone can't direct connect me and I don't know it..Can't wait for more news..
I just won the bid for an ic902 on Ebay, but it does not come with sim card. I currently have an i870, and I know that the sim for that will not work in the ic 902. But, can I use the sim from an ic402 in the ic902?

Reason: misspelling
"If you're gonna be stupid, then you better be tough"

Well, I can tell you this much... You managed to crap a thread that is not at all related to your question. Please look before posting and if you can't find a suitable thread, then start your own. This question has nothing to do with "New Phone Launch Dates"
As long as you have a 128k sim (Black) you should be able to activate it with your ic902.
*Warning*
1.)You may get an idiot for a Customer Rep that will tell you that you can't.
2.) If someone has already stuck a sim card into that ic902 and did not provide you with that particular sim, then you will have a problem. Hybrids lock to the first sim put in it. That phone, if it truley was new, should have came with a sim card sealed in plastic with the manual.
3.) If that phone is in fact not new and has not been removed from the account it was activated on, you maybe screwed. I would have been very suspcious of a Brand New Hybrid that did not come with a sim card. I would have looked for a different auction.
I recommend you take that phone to a good Authorized Dealers store that you trust and have them to help you activate that ic902. You will most likely have less headaches that way, but that is just my opinion.

This is very good advice and your best bet. Keep in mind that they are helping you correct your mistake of buying a phone on you own instead of from that dealer and they make no commission for doing this. Buy a car charger or some other accessory while your there to show your appretiation.
Thanks man. I just can't wait for this to roll out, I am tired of using 2 phones.
The area my 2 House is in, Nextel doesn't cover it, however, Sprint barely does. Plus, the only reason I still have 2 is...ive had 1 number since High School, and it accidently got ported to Sprint...and I NEED Direct Connect...so, im in between a rock and a hard place.

I agree, buy a OEM Car Charger while you are there. It will only help your plight considering it could be a major hassle for that dealer to get it done.

I can understand your stance. I carry 2 phones, but I have accepted that and just gotten use to it. I use Nextel and SouthernLINC so there is no way to combine.
I noticed you said you barely got signal at your house. I hope what little signal you do get is from an EVDO tower or this new phone comming out isn't gonna do squat diddly for you.

That's what is wierd...I do have EV-DO...out in the middle of no where.

Well, if you live relatively close to St. Louis, MO, then I can see that. Plus Sprint is based orginally out of Kansas I belive, making you a neighbor.
There's no hope for me. I'm an hour from a large city and those cities are not what most would consider metropolitan. I'm 2 hours + from a metropolitan area such as St. Louis.
thanks for the response. I will keep my fingers crossed that it has not been used with another sim card. If it has, than i guess I'll have to make a dreaded trip to a local Nextel office. Thanks, guys. I'll leave your post alone now.
