I can understand your stance. I carry 2 phones, but I have accepted that and just gotten use to it. I use Nextel and SouthernLINC so there is no way to combine.
You can't use a dual sim adapter? Should work, just switch to and from airplane mode to switch cards. Unless you need them active at the same time, then it wouldn't work.

That's just it, I use both at the same time.
Also some people don't understand, but you can't chirp a Nextel customer from a SouthernLINC phone and vice versa.
Does anyone know if there will be a new blackberry like the curve with PTT or are we stuck with the 7100i ?
For right now, we are stuck with the 7100i. At this time there are no plans for a new iDEN BlackBerry.
I just recently attended a private Sprint/RIM presentation. RIM is making a new CDMA BlackBerry with HPPTT that will be out the 2nd half of next year. (Yes, this is a VERY long wait). This will be the first Sprint BlackBerry with the EV-DO or "High Performance Push-to-Talk" feature.

Wow thats cool..I was just about to ask if there was any new info on HPPTT and bam I check here and there you go..I do want a PDA type phone and with HPPTT that will be perfect..Can't wait to see what other PDA phones they will come out..
I just got word from a good SouthernLINC source of mine. She attended a training class for the i290 and i876 today. They told her release date on those two units were 10/1/07. No mention of a i335. I've asked my source for copies of any pictures of literature she might obtain from that meeting. If I get any, I'll post it up!
SouthernLINC usually (not always) gets phones about 2 weeks before Nextel. I assume it's because it's a much smaller order to fill.
I have no verification from a Nextel source, but I assume they will get these two units as well and it should be by Mid October if these units drop like most all the rest.
I don't see what the big deal is about this phone??? Its too much like the i880.....moto needs to start thinking outside the box and come up with something...i dunno...NEW! I haven't heard anything either about Sprint picking this one up.

I would say it's like a i930 (very few characteristics), i880, i870, GSM Moto mix. It is definitely a pretty large change as far as iDEN goes. Honestly I don't know what you expect. You want a iDEN Razr?
The people that usually complain about design are the same people that like CDMA & GSM designs which I personally don't like most of them. Most of them look cheap and generic. They usually feel like cheap crap too. If Moto came out with a iDEN phone that looked like most of the other CDMA & GSM type phones on the market, I wouldn't want it.
I was stationed in a place for 9 months where the only option was GSM or CDMA. I had to buy a GSM phone so I could have something to talk on while at work for 24 hours at a time. I looked at every GSM phone I could find on the net/ebay. I didn't like any of them. It didn't matter what company made it, I just thought they sucked. I finally settled on a V3 Razr that I got cheap from a buddy and I thought it was a flimsy POS. Day 1 of being transferred out of that station, that phone was deactivated and thrown on a shelf where it has sat ever since.
I'll agree iDEN design seems mundane at times, but I still like it better than what most other companies offer for GSM and CDMA. Just my opinion.
You pegged me...I have always liked cdma and gsm phones better than iden phones. I love the i580 and the ic902...other than that I'm not too impressed...Nextel is def. different than most phones, I would just like to see something different out of them...I'm not sure what though. The i876 just doesn't do it for me.

Yeah, if you like GSM & CDMA phones, unless something drastic changes in the future, the iDEN line up is just not going to WOW you. Sorry bro.
I can tell you the OS of the i876 is very similar to that of a GSM phone, so maybe since the Linux OS is following suit of GSM, maybe one day, the exterior will follow as well. You just never know.
I absolutely love the branding effort and their intention to co-brand the UI with the new DC logo. The fact that they're at least considering keeping the "halo" DC light from the hybrids/880 is also making me very pleased. I really hope this doesn't get pushed back into Q2 or something.
Wow. This is going to rapidly antiquate the hybrids ... we hardly knew you, PowerSource.
