There will be no more IDEN only handsets, I promise.
Sorry dude, there have been others before you who have claimed the same thing. Unless you can give us a source or something to back up your claim, I for one don't believe you.
thanks for the info on the new phones. I googled pics of the phones but only found pics of some, mostly the flipper by Samsung. Anyone have pics of the others ?
Why would Sprint/Nextel continue to make non-hybrid phones? It makes no sense. Can you give me one reason why it would make it more advantageous? No more iDEN-only handsets. Guaranteed. (unless Tim Donahue returns)

Maybe because Sprint/Nextel doesn't MAKE any phones period? Its up to Motorola to make them, and they have other customers (granted NEXTEL makes up the bulk).

And why would anyone post a "guarantee" about something they know nothing about?
First off Motorola makes the phones.
Second, Sprint/Nextel are not their only iDEN customers.
It's either a cdma version of the treo 680 or 750..still unconfirmed
I was told by a sprint rep that a palm would be released before the end of 2007 and would be a smartphone and 2-way. nextel needs a 2-way smartphone bad!!!

well i dont know if sprint will be getting them but i can confirma telus will be releasing the i690 and the i890which are 2 iden only phones.
This is a good point.
We all live in a world, in our minds at least, that Sprint iDEN owns the market for PTT and iDEN. We all, /\/\ included, realize that a big part of the business goes to S/N but who really knows how much /\/\ makes off the equipment it sells to the carriers? We don't. What about MIRS that benporat has shown us? There is obviously some development going on that we don’t know about just because none of the U.S. carriers are pushing it or embracing it.
Although S/N may not be embracing iDEN as a platform for the future, it appears that there are many others that are. Who knows what kind of equipment they will demand?
All I'm saying is that there will not be a Sprint/Nextel IDEN only phone, I know people have been saying it for awhile, but the future is Qchat so why would they waste their time making IDEN only phones when there goal is to gete people off IDEN completely
