I checked on the r765 like you asked and according to our product development rep, this unit is slated for a second quarter (April-May) roll-out and is only going to be distributed to specific clients in the federal DHS groups, law enforcement, emergency responders and utilities (along with some domestic and off-shore Harmony systems). Although at some point they may be made available to smaller, non-public sector organizations, you would have to order 20 units or more. Also keep in mind that the price for these units is going to be upwards to $1000.

I strongly believe that the solution you seek is in the newly released I365. We have some very strong incentive programs right now. Take a look at the unit on sprint.com, I think you’ll like it. It’s much sleeker and more stylish than the 765 unit, unless you want your guys looking like police or fire wanna-be’s (lol).

Give me a call when you get a chance.

I'm getting off the r765 boat.

Too expensive. I can swing $500, but for $1000 I can get a i365 AND an ATT Blackberry Bold paid for a year with service.

The reviews for the i365 have been great for those who need a "Phone". Meaning, if you just need a device that sounds great, you are all set.

My i355 has years left of life anyway. I just need a new battery every 2 years.

    Oh well...

This is only info that I found about the r765.
The unit has a high power of 1 watt (now I understand, it will be $1000 per phone). He's steering you in other direction is because it is more of an application for emergancies and natural disatures feilds. Because of it's power from this phone.

It needs a more iden name. It sounds likes its a hybrid when in fact it is not. Perhaps i965. I like the way it rolls off the tongue.

Don't forget though that the form factor is along the same lines as the "V"9...hence the nonmenclature "I"9...

    IMHO...

Agreed! But if they kept up with the model order- i850,i855,i860,i865,i870,i875,i880,i885 it should be "i890".. i965 sounds Soo Windows..

    R765 pic. it ain't pretty!

Saw this on a site. ONE UGLY handset. I guess they have a beauty in the i9 so they had to come out with a BEAST too. lol. A thousand bucks for this monster? I'd like to order a Blackberry Curve AND an I9 to go, and some extra minutes please. A thousand? Geez... Well, it does pull more toward the walkie talkie side of the family that's for sure. Most def for emergency personnel. Not for the iDen everyman. All function, no form.
