    Scp 5000 & 6000

Its me again with the ringtone questions. Does any of you fellas know whether the Sanyo SCP 5000 & SCP 6000 supports the downloading of ringtones over the internet. And if yes, in what format? MIDI?SCKL?RTTTL?

    Thanks folks.

The Sanyo uses standard general midi files. You can download the off the net, and you have to then use the software that came with the phone to download it. The nice thing about the MIDI files is that it can use some very complex ones, and you can have drums playing with the music as well.

I have a pretty nice version of the Flinstones, and the X-Files loaded into my phone, and they sound pretty sweet.

The other advantage is you can use very long files (although you will never hear the whole thing when the phone rings)...any midi file under 100k is good...my two personal slots are both over 3 minutes long Next's "Too Close" and Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train".

With the Nokia phones you send the code by email to the phone. Do you also send a code for the 5000 & 6000 by email to your mobile phone?

    Thanks,

    Unhappy

The only way that I know of to load music into the phone is by connecting it to a computer, and by using the software that they provide. I don't know of any way of loading the song into the phone by using SMS, like you can with GSM phones.

CDMA technology is rather limited when compared to these types of aspects, (downloadable ringtones, text msg). People are better off with a GSM phone since the bulk of GSM handsets support this with ease
