Another question: I had a chocolate, not sure which version, had some problems with it so i exchanged it for a different one. The one that had problems allowed me to set to my pictures as FULL screen wallpapers. my new one, (v6) doesnt allow this, it makes the pictures smaller and leaves white space at the top and bottom.

So i tried flashing back to v5 and v4 but it failed. Is there any other way to set my pics as full screen wallpapers?

    Thanks a ton

Well, I was working on a way to get around having to put the phone into DM mode with the standard flashing program.
Basically I flashed my phone into v4, then I backed up the entire root directory using bitpim. I flashed back to v6 and in DM mode restored the root directory. The phone works fine and I don't have to use the DM mode to use bitpim. When I check the phone, it says version T85VZR06 / 50768 (PRL) / 4 (ERI).

The problem is that I screwed up the BREW directory and index somehow or part of the GIN settings so that the phone will no longer connect to GIN and so I can't download any apps.

It's wierd because it doesn't given an error message, it just shows the OPENING icon and then there are no items in the sub menus!

Oh, well I will have to restore back to the factory settings with the backup of the root I made before messing with all of this.

As always, if they've been leaked, they should be here: www.humpa.com/vzw

I don't recall ever seeing any of the different colors in the V05 version.
all the V06 colors are leaked, so there really isn't any need for the V05 ones anyway. I could see why someone would want the V04 ones, but we know of no difference between V05 and V06, so just use V06 if you feel the need to use the Strawberry color (the other colors exist in V04, so that's what I would use - no reason to use the V05 or V06 firmware - all it does is lock you out of BitPim).

I know (thanks by the way your downloads are very helpful) my phone came as v05, I don't think verizon will give me a hard time but if I ever need a replacement phone do they track what firmware you have? Will they care that a mint chocolate is running strawberry firmware? Or that you got it as a v05 but return it as a v04?

They probably will be rather clueless about the version number. Though the color would be a dead give-away, if they chose to care.

I've never seen a post where someone claimed that Verizon took any action or refused a warranty exchange/fix/whatever for any reason other than obvious physical abuse/damage or water damage (as in a red/pink water damage sticker).

They would probably be more in awe than mad at a different color firmware. Knowing Verizon Reps.

I see you found the thread with that info. I'm going to post it here anyway (for anyone else who stumbles upon this):

Well I have the v6 chocolate and i am using the 2.47.dll to put it on the DV mode, to then make subdirectories, to add appl. (nv, etc... that i have previously saved from my old v4 phone that i lost). added the mif files and config_going.txt . But cannot see it when i hit get going. would that be bc i have dwnloaded from another phone?
Also i have fried a phone trying to downgrade it to V4 but ended up with line through the screen. Is it now safe to downgrade to v4 using the new 2.47.dll. i have read some people did it without missing up their phone...
    thanks everyone!!

People have gone from V04 to V06 and back with no problems. But some that have phones that came with V06 have reported problems going to V04, but I believe there have been some that have done it without incident. But even the people that have ended up with the line thru it can flash back to V06 and the line is gone.

As for GIN files, they don't work from one phone to another phone. They are locked to the phone.

So has anyone else here had the same problem with flashing to V4 form V6? I tried both the 2.44 DLL and the 2.47 and it gives me the exact same results.

i think u might have fried ur phone (do u have lines going through ur screen?).
it happened 2 me when i used the 2.44.dll (did you use it first?).
Is it now safe to use the 2.47.dll to flash v4 from v6?
