You have version 04... stick with it for now because this recent appearance of version 05 appears to do the same for normal people and less for the phone geeks, not more.

Ok, that settles it.. Humpa says its a no go for v5.

We need to get a sticky up or something telling people not to flash to v5. No way am I paying VZW for ringtones when u can just download free one off the net! forget it.

    that is LAME!!!

So Humpa, after flashing to V5 you are now stuck with it like me, correct? I have tried 1.3.6.3, 1.8 cracked, tried NV mode to access files. I have done it all and can't downgrade, change files, or anything.

Do we have any other options for getting back to V4?

To add, Humpa if you have any idea about the file 10.key your help would be appreciated. This seems to be the ERF file that causes an error when read. Does anybody at all know what a .key file is at all? Or what it does?

    I have no idea.
I tried everything that I could think of, which isn't much.

I don't use the 8500 though, so it doesn't really matter much to me.

I upgraded my Chocolate to the V5 last night.
I had to activate it today to use it some.
So far I've only noticed one difference with the new S/W, that the touch sensor levels seem to work better.
    That's about it.
=> Read my reviews for the Samsung Droid Charge, HTC ThunderBolt, and Casio G'zOne Commando.

Yea, I have a bunch of other phones I can use but I really like for them all to work the way I want them to work, not the way Verizon does. Thanks for your help.

    I'm with you on that.
I don't have as many as you, but I have 2 lines and keep my backup phone on my 2nd line. My E815 is on my second line at the moment (9900 on the main line).
I'm going to get my 8500 working normally again, if anyone figures it out.
But for now it still works as I want it too - my custom wap session, custom mms server, and custom ringtones are on it. So at least I can activate it and use it normally if I want to.

No one has found anything different. Though FAUguy thought that "the touch sensor levels seem to work better"

    Exclamation

If you have ringtones on and upgrade it erases your ringtones and then you are locked out from copying them ?

it sounds like if you upgrade to V5, you will lose your ability to load ringtones and pictures from your computer. You'll have to buy them from VZ.
