Hi, I just got my Dash today and have been messing around with it. I followed t-mobiles configurator to get IE to use tzones but I was wondering, if I'm connected to a WiFi network, will I connect to that with IE or will the tzones setup override that?
Also, after reading the FAQ, has MSN Messenger been able to be configured to use through tzones? I traded a Samsung t629 for this and the MSN Messenger was able to connect via tzones on that phone. I just wonder why it's different.
Basically, I'd like to be able to switch between using WiFi and T-Zones with IE.
EDIT: Sorry for the noobness, but this is my first smartphone and I just have alot of questions, even as I'm reading through the forums...
I was messing with the network settings illustrated in the faq to get see if msn messneger would work with Tzones, but I didn't write down the original settings so I hard reset the phone. Now in my comm manager when I try to turn on WiFi (which I previously had working) it won't connect. When I go to WiFi settings and look at the connection status is says: Driver is not loaded. It won't even read the SSID now...
Was the Direct Push and Data Connection options in the Comm Manager available new? They aren't now, so now I might have 3 problems total...
Can anyone help me with this? I'm searching the forums and google is going to block me if I can't get this fixed!
1) This is why we make backups of settings
2) Hard reset is a LAST resort only on these things...worse case scenario from putting the settings from the forums on your phone was internet for 5.99 instead of 29.99.
3) Your best bet is to take it back to t-mo and see if they can help, but tell them it was like this from the get go.
It may sound harsh, but it's just the truth. I'm just in a bad mood with all the crap with illegal aliens, but that's off topic so I appologize if I offended you.
Go into PIE, go into the Options and then Connections. Change the "Select Network" to "The Internet" and it'll use wifi when it's available and the data network when it's not. If it's set to WAP network, it'll only use the data network.
There are tons of threads about T-Zones vs. the Internet packages. The last I've read the loophole to get full Internet access with the T-Zones plan has been closed.
Quake, He already said that it can't find the drivers for the wifi card after he did the reset. Also, the loophole was closed, yes, but you can still do it through a proxy...I know, it's working on mine with proxy.
Thanks alot guys. Late last night I kept searching and searching (even on tmobile.com) and nothing was coming up. I mean nothing. Finally, this morning I opted to do the hard reset again. Hell, if the first one didn't work, how bad can the second be?
It worked. All drivers loaded in fine I can connect to WiFi at home and at work. I am greatly relieved. Everything is working now.
Now, back to my reason for posting to begin with!
I am using the Set up my Email link on the desktop (?) to try to setup a gmail account but that doesn't work. Are there only certain domains that this will work with?
What kind of neat little progs are out there that can be put on the dash? (again a nooby question, but I don't know what will work and what won't and I don't want to pay for anything and it not work.)
Also, does anyone know what the dead/stuck pixel policy is for T-mobile? I have 3 pixels that are indeed stuck or dead. Actually it might be 2 side by side stuck together on one of them so many 4 total.
Well before you change things, like gprs settings, write down on a paper, or type in a notepad doc on your pc, what all the settings were before you changed them so you can revert back if you need/want to. Aside from that, there are programs, don't know names, that will backup a pda/smartphone/ppc but I'm sure most, if not all, have to be purchased.
