Using quick text on VX8300

I know how to save Quick Text phrases on the VX8300, but how exactly can I use them while text messaging? Im not finding an option to do so anyplace.

Also, anyone know if there is a way to remove Voicemail from my number 1 contact?

Begin composing your message, then hit the right soft button (Options). Select "Add", then "Quick Text". You can then insert your saved Quick Texts in to the message.

As far as I know you can't remove voicemail as speed dial #1.
