Wow, after reading this whole thread I'm debating whether or not to switch from my E61i MIF to a E65 MIF.....
Current Issues with the E65:
- firmware bugs, with apps not working, freezing, turning off randomly.
- keypad light not working
- housing peeling
- no alarm
- no Nokia support
Pros:
- Same features less the QWERTY
- Form factor
- Overall better looking than the E61i (but only by a little)
If the E61i was only a little bit more narrow, close to a HTC S620 it would be perfect.
I'll give the E65 a try I think, hopefully the unit I get is not soo buggy and filled with issues.
I got mine on Monday, working perfectly so far, no issues at all. I'm finding the UI complicated but I'm getting used to it. hat I do like about it is the ability to add 3rd Party Apps to it.
hopefully soon, the N95 still isnt' stable and it's been through 2 firmware upgrades already.
nokia is getting kicked in the arse by sony ericsson in terms of service
Agreed, I've had this phone for 4 days now and I love. I've had to reboot once because I couldn't access my SIM contacts other than that it's been stable and I'm getting about 2 days on the battery with moderate usage, mainly the wifi. A new firmware would be much appreciated though.
This is horrible for me right now. I know I want to sell off my W950 (which I've had for 1.5 weeks) and go back to a Nokia Symbianphone. However... WHICH Symbian phone? My progression was 6600 -> 6620 -> (both handed down from my dad) 6670 -> N73 -> whole bunch of non-Nokia phones, including a Samsung and WM phone -> W950. So... I have to pick between:
N95: The ultimate-phone. Still a bit buggy, bulky, not-so-good battery life and rather more expensive than the other two choices. However, it has EVERYTHING.
E61i: QWERTY. Huge screen - bigger than N95. Great battery life. Don't really need the QWERTY though, and the business-oriented capabilities. So-so camera. Wide.
E65: Sexiest looking out of the three. Smallest and most compact. Has similar capabilities to the E61i, minus QWERTY. No firmware updates so far, one might come out soon. A bit buggy. Battery life in between the two.
I don't really need the e-mail capabilities, and I don't use the camera THAT often. I'm leaning more towards the E65, or the E61i, but can't really decide whether I want the slim form-factor, or the massive powerhouse battery of the E61i. Argh. The N95 is a bit expensive for me, too...
with the seven software available there isn't a big reason for E65 over N73 unless you absolutely need blackberry.
seven is still beta but seems to work just as well as blackberry did on my E65. I still like the E65 form factor better than N73 but the 3MP camera and better audio tools would be more useful to me.

Having come from a E61i (two to be exact) get the E65, mine is a MIF unit, USA production model with USA firmware, no issues and bugs on mine, no defective keypad and if you don't need the keyboard the fact that it fits in your pocket is great.
I just got an e65 and overall I like the phone, but the one problem I'm having consistently is with wifi reception. I've found it to be terrible. When you use the search for wlan function it will find a hotspot and then shortly after when you check again from the same place it can't see it. I can be in the same room as the router and it will still happen, no matter how the broadcast settings are set. Even when you get a successful connection, it seems to drop it rather easily, whether you're using the browser or an installed connected application like gmail for instance.
I've tested along side a laptop and signals that the laptop picks up at 100%, usually come in at about half that, and again the e65 drops connections like crazy, while the laptop will happily chug along.
I live in a city with loads of free wifi, and that was a main factor in picking up this phone, but if it doesn't work properly, this is a deal breaker for me, as I'm not willing to pay the exorbitant monthly charges that my carrier wants for unlimited data connections.
Is this similar to anyone else's experience out there? Or is my phone just bad? I'm debating returning it.
BTW, the phone is running firmware 1.0633.18.01 and is "Made in Finland"

Yeah, pretty much what I'm thinking, too. How's the battery life on the E65 for you? I really like the fact that the E61i has a huge battery... my N73 lasted for ages, and that was with a fair bit of use.

2-3 days with moderate usage, voice, text, wifi browsing and voip. 1-2 days with heavy usage of items stated above.
