This thing could be the best phone in the world, which it isnt, and even then my #1 barrier would the that faux pleather stuff. Is Nokia joking to put that on an E-series phone? I mean the E concept has got the be dead, judging by the styling of this thing.

Using this, you don't have to open your contacts at all to find a recipient.
The character type in the "TO:" field is now customizable whether you want to start with numeric or alphabetic characters so that's good.

Good idea, I used to do that but I don't mind typing a few letters at the top anymore

That must be a left-handed thing. I just tried it and, while it seems possible, looks like it'll require lots of practice...

Hasn't it always been that way? My 6260 doesn't do that now, but I know any s60v3 phone I've had would remember your input method. Is there a special setting for this now or something?

On another E65 thread, we discussed how RotateMe probably calls some coding within the S60 platform which does the landscape mode such as the gallery and camera views in the N73 and N80. The E65 has no landscape mode in these apps or any other apps for that matter, which is why the D-pad still responds as if it was in portrait mode. The same can be said for the camera, using RotateMe, the image in the viewfinder is rotated an additional turn...does that make sense...kinda hard to explain.

Great review, JP. I notice that your unit has a Chinese keypad, I'm about to get an E65 and I want to change the language to Chinese, can you tell me the code on the back of the unit?

Uh, I guess I missed it the first time around. The only reason I noticed was because this one defaulted to numerals whereas all the other S60v3 phones I've used defaulted to alphabetic characters.

I wanted to add here that I have over 900 messages in my sms inbox, about 100 emails and 698 messages in my sent items folder and my phone is now taking forever to open up messages (for the first time, messages open quickly if viewed more than once)

This is something that I hated with my SE k790a; it took forever to navigate my inbox and sent items folder.

I hope a firmware patch will fix this. In the meantime, I'm about to delete 75% of my messages via PC Suite (so efficiently)

Many of these messages are even from my N73 carried to my E70 and now my E65. Nokia's PC Suite is the best out there (RIM's desktop manager is pretty good too)

I just got mine in today. The only gripe I have about this phone is the slider is kind of crappy. I mean, it slides fine but if I look at the side of my phone I can see the metal slide pieces inside my phone. I think it's spaced out too much. Can someone take a picture of the side of your phone so I can see that it's not only me? Do you think yours is spaced out too much?

I don't know about that. Yes you can stare through the crack and see some interior stuff, so what? it's not like someone standing beside you is going to see it and it's not like things are gonna get stuck in there. The gap is 1mm at most. There's a pic of it in my review....
