can JP or someone who's got a E65 pls comment on the phone's speed? i played with one for a few minutes at the nokia store here in HK and was rather disappointed by the response time just navigating around the menus. bringing up the main menu seemed to take a good second or two, getting to the SMS screen took close to 3 seconds all in. granted, i wasn't timing these with a stopwatch so i could be a bit off. this isn't a bash at the E65, i know the symbian phones are notoriously slow compared to the series 40, just interested in how you're dealing with this, and how it stacks up from this aspect compared to the N73 and other series 60 v3 phones

This is faster than any other symbian phone i've used to date tho ppl may say the E61 is faster.

as with any other symbian phones,, the first time you use the menu, it's gonna take a while to load. After you load it once it's good to go.

i had well over 1'000 messages in my sent and received folders so my sms was crawling for a bit but after stripping then down to about 200 messages, the messaging app is a breeze to open again.

this one's got a good processor combined with excellent ram......

That 15.5mm thin dimension I see everywhere, does it refer to each 'half' of the phone or the thickest part (ie when closed thickness)

Does anyone have Opera Mini installed? If so, how long does it take to save a bookmark?

I got it installed over the weekend. It does take a second or two to save bookmarks in opera mini. That might just be because of opera though because if you use the default browser, it doesn't take time at all.

There's not much point in using opera mini on this phone to be honest. The web browser on these symbian phones is phenomenal and the E65 can actually handle rendering the pages......

Everything has a point depending on what you need and what it offers. In my experience Opera Mini uses WAY less data than either the built-in browser or Opera Mobile. And since it goes through Opera's proxy server there is a lot of junk that is filtered out (mainly advare graphics). It also does the best job of all three of rendering forums for easy and quick page-by-page reading.

I read many forums, tech sites and articles and some of them looks really garbled up with the other two browser or take too much scrolling left-right and up-down to read. Try avsforum.com or asp.net for example. I use the other browsers too for there are many things that they do well also. It just depends on what I need but for purely reading with the least amount of key press nothing beats Opera Mini IMO.

At any rate it seems that it's either internal to this version of Opera Mini or there is an issue with the N73 Java VM data save implementation. It needs to write to the bookmark file in phone memory and somehow it takes longer than it should. Not a big deal really, but it's good to know that other models are better in this regard. I'm hoping the N75 will not have this isssue at all.

I just got the mocca e65 few days ago, i liek the colour cuz it looks black in dark places and a nice brownish mocca color under the sunlight. This phone has everything i wanted.. well except maybe a better camera and a flash ofcourse (when i need to look for something at night =\) I am really suprised on how the phone is so thin and it has a nice weight to it, the round edges and the grip really makes u feel secure while using the phone. The battery life is great, takes 1.5 hours to charge from empty to full and will last for 2 days with normal usage. The speaker is clear even when it's at loudest, it's not as loud as W600 i had but it sounds a lot 'cleaner' in the E65. Also the slide mechanism is great and feels intact when the slide is open. okay i haven't slept all night and that's all i have to say about this phone. I give this phone 9.5/10

How's everyone's battery life? Mine holds for about a day and a half. Not as good as my e61.
