Sprint Coverage in Alaska and Alaska Cruise?

We will be taking a cruise in the next few months to Alaksa. We will be leaving Seattle and getting on the ship from there.

How is the signal for Sprint PCS there and on the ship throughout Alaska? I have the Treo 700WX and the other two phones are Razr's V3M. I would like to be prepared when I go so I know where my phone will work and won't. Thanks!

Roaming while on the ship will be outrageously expensive, and you won't even know you're roaming because Sprint doesn't use a foreign SID. Don't do it, if there is roaming coverage available. Only use your phone when you're off the boat!

As for coverage, Sprint has roaming coverage throughout the Inside Passage. However, keep in mind that this is a very remote part of the world. Cellular towers only cover populated areas, and most towns only have one tower. With most newer phones and recent plans, you'll have clear digital coverage from ACS Wireless. You'll be able to make phone calls and text fine from Alaska. Enjoy your trip, and stay a couple of extra days in Seattle--we love visitors!

There are few emergencies that would justify paying Sprint's cruise roaming rates. They charge up to $3 per minute!

I am pretty sure this is a different sort of roaming. It is kind of like making a call on an airplane.

It will tell you when its roaming...But it wont tell you if its Domestic (FREE) or International (PAY, Cruise Ship Roaming is considered International)
