    The Apple iSync Plugin Thread

There are a number of phone-based Apple iSync plugin threads, so I thought I'd get a more generic one started, for a kind of one-stop shop for people looking for iSync plugins/information, etc., and of course for people to post links to their FREE plugins.

    First some quick notes:
    • Apple is frequently updating iSync to include more and more phones. If you are using a phone plugin, and an iSync update comes out, be sure to check if your phone is now supported directly by iSync. If that is the case, remove the plugin immediately.
    • Even if your phone is still not supported directly by iSync, an update to iSync may cause your plugin to stop working. Don't panic, it's usually pretty easy to throw together a new plugin.
    • Plugins can be added to different locations, but the 'best' is /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/PhonePlugins (also sometimes referred to as ~/YOURUSERNAME/Library/PhonePlugins) - NOTE: This folder may not exist initially. You just have to create it. Super easy.
    • Plugins have lots of folders. The folder you want to add to the PhonePlugins folder mentioned above is the one that is the immediate Parent folder to the folder 'Contents.' For example: SonyEricsson-K550.phoneplugin/Content/... - You'd add the folder 'SonyEricsson-K550.phoneplugin', since it is the immediate parent to content.

EDIT: Well, still trouble trying to host the plugin. Promise to get my K550 plugin up once it's resolved.

Ok, finally got it working. Here's my contribution, a K550i plugin. Works with iSync 2.3, untested yet in 2.4.

the m600 is a UIQ phone meaning that it is not going to be that easy to use w/ iSync. There is more technical information at http://mobile.feisar.com/uiq3.html.

    Thumbs up Excellent!

Thanks Paco! This is great. It works for me in isync 2.4
The only issue is I receive a message that the sync has failed at the end, however all sync functions appear to have worked. strange.

anyway, thanks much for the contribution!

I'm currently looking for a w850i plugin if anyways has one. I found a few, but they are like $15. I'm considering buying it, if I do I'll host it up here.

I've hacked something together. Give it a try. You can download it W850 Plugin . It definitely won't work with USB syncing, as I didn't have the vendor and model ID codes, but it could work with Bluetooth. Please let me know if it works.

What does the failed message say? There are many possibilities. Are you trying to sync more calendar items than your phone can handle? The message should hopefully give some indication of what type of failure it is.

I am using it with iSync 2.4 and my K550 and not getting any failure messages.

I'm installing it now, I'll let you know how it is. I have a folder titled Phones in my library, so I'm going to try that, and then making a phoneplugin folder.

Jesus you're a genius!!! Works with 2.4 (thats what I'm using). It didn't work in the /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Phone directory, however I made a /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/PhonePlugins folder and it worked.

    Thanks again!!!!!

Here is the message that I get.

    "Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
    Device "k550i" synchronization failed"

So, it looks like it thinks there isn't a connection, but the device is paired and the sync does in fact take place correctly. Any thoughts?

This works perfect with the K550i and iSync. Yes it's 3 bucks but well worth it...

Glad it worked. And yes, the correct directory is " /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/PhonePlugins". Hope the phone graphic looks ok. Like I said, I kind of threw it together quickly for ya

Humm, definitely strange. I've tried the plugin I created on three different macs, and it works on all of them, so it might be something on your end. You could try deleting the pairing on both the phone and the computer, and then re-pair to see if it works. To delete the pairing on the Mac, go to the Bluetooth Preference Pane, click the phone name listing and hit delete. Then also delete it from the phone. Restart the mac, (and for good measure, restart the phone too) and then re-pair.

ack! I'm such an idiot. The message I was receiving was for a different profile! I thought that since I had selected the k550i prior to hitting the sync 'button' that it was only going to try to sync that phone. I guess it was trying to sync all devices. So, alls well that ends well. Thank again for creating the plugin.
