PDANet offers DUN support for WM5 Smartphone

    Hey Guys,

PDANet gives the Dash Bluetooth DUN capabilities. I know that you can easily get onto the net with your Dash and a Windows Laptop (over Bluetooth or USB), but has anyone had any success with the program and connecting to a MAC?

There should be a way to accomplish this but I haven't figured out how.

    10.4.9?

Is there a new step-by-step guide for us MAC owners for tethering the Dash w/ OSX via Bluetooth PAN?

    (from another thread)

Here's some very simple step-by-step instructions (because with 10.4.9, it really is that simple):

    1. If you have not done so already, pair your Dash with your Mac. (You may want to re-pair anyway.) A screen will show up at the end of the pairing process to show that you can use personal area networking with the Dash.
    2. Turn Bluetooth on, and also make sure you have Show Bluetooth status in menu bar checked in your Bluetooth System Preferences. (If you have not already done so)
    3. Fire up Internet Sharing (Start | Accessories | Internet Sharing).
    4. Under PC Connection, select Bluetooth PAN, and under Network Connection, select T-Mobile Data.
    5. Press Connect, and it should say "Device setup finished. On the PC, connect Bluetooth PAN."
    6. Finally, in the Bluetooth icon in your menu bar, select "Join Network on (whatever your device name is)" and you're all set!

Will try this out now and report back.

It does indeed work like a charm. I'm hitting around 150 kbit/sec right now. It's so ridiculously easy to setup!

I can't believe I missed the Bluetooth PAN update w/ 10.4.9. Probably spaced out during the update install (aka busy with porn).

    Oh, welcome to Cali!

NP, I am posting this from my Macbook Pro now connected through my Dash. The only downfall is that if someone calls you while data is being transferred such as a webpage in the process of loading, the caller will be sent straight to voicemail (I think this also happened connecting to the internet via Bluetooth DUN).

Oh well, a PAN option w/ the new OS X update just makes life so much easier.

Yeah, no more dialing issues to deal with. It's very quick and effective. Now if only Apple would add A2DP support via a software update to their bluetooth modules so we could use our bluetooth stereo headphones...

Thats just the nature of GPRS, thats why i can't wait until 3G, simultaneous voice and data so not only will the call some through you still will be able to surf the web
