I've known Barry (who by now you all know went by the screen name of John Helmsley here on HoFo) for quite some time. He first made contact with me via email back in the late summer of 2000, and I first met him at HoFo gathering at J.J.Muggs at the Eaton Centre in the summer of 2002. Since then I've met with him on many occasions and he lent me a number of a phones for which I've posted reviews on my web page.

Although I never really spent time with him for reasons OTHER than cell phones, I still considered him a friend. I no longer have the chance to get know Barry any better than I did, and that's a great shame.

Most of you never met him, but his messages here on HoFo were always fair and informative (a quality lacking in most messages posted here). For that reason alone his passing is a great loss to us all.

Helmsley was a great poster. His posts were always informative and helpful, and he was always accurate about upcoming models, too. Very sad indeed that he is no longer with us. My condolence to his family and friends.

I remember John Helmsley from the usenet days. He's always been an important part of the mobile phone community and will be missed.

This is in the vicinity of Warden & Highway 401. Metropolitan Road runs eastward off of Warden just south of the highway.
