    Lightbulb Charitable Fundraising

    Folks,

I want to give you some updates on the legacy of John Helmsley... A while ago, Barry's wife and I have decided to sell off some of his gadgets left behind, for charitable fundraising. All the proceeds will go to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

There are PDAs and cellphones. Anyway, some of them are in fair conditions but some of them are pretty good shapes. Then last week, I have posted the first 3 items in HoFo B/S/T section (as well as the experimental new B/S/T section too).

    http://bst.howardforums.com/showcat....00/ppuser/4566

Sure, they are not the latest or greatest. But, for a backup, for a temporary replacement, for a cheap upgrade... more importantly, for a meaningful cause, it worth to take a look or spreading the words... Just like sweetpanda28 and her friend, Miranda, who has been a part of it http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1230825

So please help out if you happen to looking for something. PM me if you want further details on other items that yet to be posted. And, on behalf of Barry's friends and family, thank you all of you in HoFo!

    Good Work Howard!

When we become stronger, we will hit back. And we will make pain, and they will suffer. Because we would have preferred for them to live and let live, but if they play unfairly, our day of revenge will come.

    Thumbs up Thank you, cgartly!

    Folks,

Thanks to another great friend / HoFo member, cgartly, he has helped out by picking up not one but two mint condition items (not even posted in the B/S/T forum): a Palm TX and a Motorola RAZR V3m (from the defunct Amp'd Mobile Canada but successfully activated with his Verizon account! Must be the good karma!).

My 8000th Post @ HoFo is dedicated to John Helmsley!

    Folks,

I think I will celebrate my 8000th post milestone at HoFo here in this thread. Helmsley has just stopped at the 1999th mark But, I will carry on with his HoFo spirit!

Lightbulb Final update on the fundraising / Closure

    Folks,

Almost a year has been passed by and most of us have already moved on. For those who still care about the legacy of Helmsley, I would like to offer the final update...

    - The little fundraising effort has come up with $305 in total.

    - I have put $250 into the fundraising drive lottery for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada. The 3 tickets are all bearing the names of Barry's family members (his wife, his father and his sister).

    - Barry's wife has asked me to put the remaining $55 into the trust fund set up for Mr. Mao Hou-Cheung's family at the Scotiabank. Mr. Mao was the innocent bystander who has been shot down at the grocery store he was working at - where was not far away from Barry's parents' home. http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_18691.aspx

    - The LG 8100 has been given to Barry's sister as she intend to switch to TELUS from Virgin Mobile. The sentimental value is far more meaningful than the monetary one for her.

So that is it! I wish it will bring us the "closure". I sincerely thank all of you who have shown your support, help out directly or indirectly during the difficult time, and those who care about each other in the HoFo community... one at a time!
