sorry, im confused.. does this mean we can get the 8830 in stores on 5/14 as well? or is it online only, but you were able to get it bc you are a verizon employee?
Technically it is orderable in the store on 5/14. I think you'll be hard pressed to find a sales rep who is unwilling to order you a BlackBerry, especially if you ask really nicely and don't already have unlimited data on your line.
Would you please share your opinion of the web browsing speed. I briefly checked out the 8800 and didn't stay with it because the browser was so much slower than my Treo 700w.
Wow! $519 for retail price tag?
VZW_CSR, you must be rich man. :-)
I guess it's time to sell my backup BB8700 and BB7209 in eBay.
My upgrade window is due for this December, so I hope VZW can come up with cusumer version of BB8830 with Camera until then.
I really like the idea of Worldphone, but may need Camera function for casual use. :-)

Does this mean that VZW sales people get some sort of commission for signing people up for extra services?
Also do you know anything about whether you will need to pay a monthly SIM fee for the global data plan. Can you migrate up and down between the $45 US plan and the $65 Global plan if you only travel internationally once or twice per year?

There's no commission for devices, the commission is on the unlimited data on the device.
As for monthly service for the SIM, I'm not sure. I have training that I have yet to take on this device due to lack of time. I'll take it tomorrow or Sunday and report back.
Doesn't make much sense to me either. Telenav is getting great reviews and it would probably be quite useful. Just hope that I'm wrong about GPS being disabled but rumors like this popping up leads me to believe that I shouldn't keep my hopes up.
And the sad part is, since the company has reworked out a deal with Verizon Wireless, it'll be overall cheaper for me to stay than to port out to have "full featured" Blackberries.
Well, the 8703e had GPS disabled in the VZW version (but not the Sprint version), so it certainly seems likely that this would be the case for the 8830.
I'm also interested in whether the 8830 supports Bluetooth DUN.
thanks for the pictures. the silver doesn't look bad in person. will you post initial impressions later / over the next few days? hoping to order early next week.
curious about customization aspects -- downloading themes and saving ringtones via the browser, etc..
it has built in spell check due to the new os version?
i remember reading that you can have multiple mailboxes for text messages and email accounts? true?
responsiveness? somebody who used one posted that it seemed a little sluggish.
just whatever you have to comment on.
thanks.
