this pic has some inconsistencies. notice how on the last picture the keys are all black and not in any of the other pics.. i can tell you for a fact that the keys are black, including the next and return keys, not a faded silver. and there is a black edition of the 8830 coming out, and it looks sick, black front, back and top housings and keys. much better than the silver.
My company switched from Nextel BB 7520, which worked great, to the Verizon Treo 700w. The first day I had the Treo it froze on me once and then at least twice everyday for a week. I gave it back to our IT person and ordered the BB 8830 and am very happy with it. Compared to the BB 7520 the screen/colors are much better on the 8830. The keys on the 8830 are spaced closer so it takes some getting used to. Also buttons/keys are silver in color and the numbers/letters are back lit in blue. At night it is hard the see the numbers versus the letters so you have to tilt the device for a better view. Overall I got used to the spacing and keys in 2 days.
The silver color is way different in person, pictures do not do it justice, very nice color.
For those trying to order, read the posts on page 23, try the 3 Verizon contacts on the different posts, that's how I got mine on a personal account not business.
Faceplate = front bezel (not the LCD)
Buttons = Volume & side convenience buttons (not the keypad)
Hmm, thanks Ofelas, good thing I didn't plan on getting it! Again, I can't see myself paying 79 bucks to take my phone apart just to make it black anyway, even if it did come with the keypad. I do like the black, just not that much!
Thanks though for pointing that out Ofelas!
I am trying to buy this phone and here is my situation...
-Eligible for an early upgrade, but not eligible for ne2.
-Adding a data plan to my account as i will be a BB newbie.
The CSR told me that I could purchase the phone, but I would not be eligibile for the $100 discount for adding an unlimited data plan. Does this make any sense to anyone?

If it's a 9.99 secondary line it will only be $50 off, however, you'd qualify for the Advance Data Discount.
How is it this review cites actual results from using the GPS, when everyone else is trying to guess IF Verizon will support it? There is no word from Verizon about supporting it, and in fact the only thing Verizon has said officially is they don't support it.
WTF? I am holding off on this phone at the moment until I am sure GPS will be supported. I don't care if they charge for it or use aGPS
If I knew for sure it would be there, I'd go ahead and get it.
Like the BlackBerry Pearl and the 8800, the BlackBerry 8830 has a built-in full-function GPS (as opposed to 911 emergency GPS) and comes with maps of North America. You can access the maps and navigation functions by launching the Maps application. The GPS on the BlackBerry 8830 acquires a signal and get position fixes fast thanks to the aGPS servers. The accuracy was very good in our tests of the Dallas area. The BlackBerry comes with North America maps (US and Canada) powered by Tele Atlas and it offers a large of number of POIs (Point of Interest). The navigation services provide turn-by-turn directions, though not as full-featured as the BlackBerry 8800 which offered real time traffic, route planning preferences and 3D map views
