Samsung S300 - how to unlock Please help

Hey... i recieved a BRAND NEW IN BOX Samsungs S300 from Hong Kong
and the guy i bought it off claims that THEY ARE ALL UNLOCKED.. even the supplier said so..

However the one that I GOT says "WRONG CARD" when i insert my sim in...

which means it is LOCK to a network .. which is also WEIRD since there was no Network lock...

I was just wonderig if there was any quick way to UNLOCK my phone...
Because i Dont want the hassle of Sending it back to HK and wasting my postage money and then waiting for a replacement to come in..

If anyone can help me please reply..
    greatly appreciate it

    Allan

    damm.

best way would be to find a program and use your cable..

if not, return it for a replacement

    good luck

When I was in Hong Kong, I tested every phone I was interested in with my own SIM card. I would never take their word for it.

Because I got mine from him too!!! It should be here in a few hours! DAMNIT!

Well here ya go... you can try this... turn on the phone and do this code *2767*STACKRESET# and if the phone resets this just might work.... now put in #0111*00000000# and then hit send...

If it says "Personalzation canceled" you did it.

Good luck and get back to us.

    Cool

I can't garuntee it wouldn't bugger up your phone... I don't see why it would. This worked for my samsung s105 just fine...

You don't have too much to loose.... Just send it back if it doesn't work.

    Cool

    Yea sure will.

I was browsing through his feedback and it doesn't look like it is a common occurance.

I fould another s300 there and he got positive feed back from the buyer so I assume it worked.

I use T-mobile and I'll let you know as soon as I get my phone.... Fedex tracking - Out for delivery!

    Cool

This situation is very strange in the first place.

The S300 shouldn't be locked to any network. Are you using a GSM service provider? If so, do they run on the 1800Mhz band over there?- it's triband and not quadband. These could be issues. I don't know squat about Australian Providers.

Edit- I just checked out their website and it is 900Mhz GSM..... it should work... I'm out of ideas.

    Cool

I remember reading about a dual-band s300 that they sell in asia. I hope you didn't get that one.... but I don't think that's the problem, even if the phone didn't support the network, it should start up with the sim and search.... Well consider that code man... It isn't a matter of screwing up your phone, it is going to do 2 things, work, or fail.... if it fails it would be unlikly that it would take the phone down with it.

-Also you may avoid getting another phone and having it do the same thing if it is for some reason you network.... But wait until I get my phone and I'll tell ya if it works.
