According to the FCC documentation, the phone only has the 1900 MHz WCDMA band and not the 850 MHz WCDMA band.

Hey everyone,
Is there anyway to upgrade to a new phone without having to change my data plan? I want to buy a Samsung Captivate but when I try to activate I don't know how to keep the data plan to what I currently have. Is this possible? (If it is possible, could I do it on the Wirefly website? They let you upgrade your line but I don't know how to keep the data plan)
Also, I have a family plan with 4 phones. I'm the primary line (I believe)
Thanks and much love
I have an unlocked Nokia n85 and purchased a gophone SIM from AT&T. I need to access internet via 3G data - how to set up in in Nokia? What settings do I need to change?
Thanks alot!
Here are the settings that you will need:
Set Name: User defined
Access Name: wap.cingular
Auth Type: Secure
User ID : <leave blank>
Password: <leave blank>
Protocol: HTTP
Home URL: http://home
Proxy Address: wireless.cingular.com:80
Here's the manual for your phone. It looks like page 34 would be a good place to start.
What kind of data plan do you currently have? If it is a grandfathered or current smartphone plan, you should have no trouble keeping it. I'm not sure how Wirefly's system works but you might have to end up calling them if you have a smartphone plan and it won't let you keep it.
I think I'll just stick with AT&T if Wirefly is going to be a hassle. Also, I forgot to mention that it's not a smartphone plan, it's actually one of those 10 dollar a month data plans I got with my Samsung Eternity before I switched over to my Nokia E71. This whole time I've been using a dumbphone data plan with a smartphone (and it's worked great). But now I'm assuming that AT&T will definitely no longer let that fly, unless I can find a way to upgrade to a new phone (Captivate or iPhone) without them knowing about my data plan.
Do I find a way around this or do I just pony up the extra 15 a month for that new data plan? (which I would hate to do, but if I must...)
If you get a Captivate or an iPhone, you will be required to have a $15 (200 MB) or $25 (2 GB) data plan. I wouldn't suggest the $15 option with either of those phones.
If you would get a non-AT&T version of the Galaxy S, you could probably get away with your existing data package. The phone will probably cost you about $400+ if I had to guess.
BAM!
Note: This only works for Windows Mobile, Android and Blackberry phones. It won't tether the iPhone![]()
Hello, was wondering if I got a HTC Touch2 if ATT would switch me off my data plan? I'm currently on the family plan where its dumbphone data on my Nokia E71, I know I will lose 3G with the Touch2 but I can just drop my sim in my unlocked 3G modem and get on my laptop or use WIFI on the phone.
i found my answer
tks guys

From January through April I am going to be traveling extensively. I have a Clear card that will work in the majority of places, but for ND, NJ and Yuma I am going to need something else to get me through. I have a couple old Sierra 860's laying around at the office. They're unbranded and unlocked. I read back to page 40ish and there's so much info I am lost. I do not have an AT&T wireless account currently.
I looked at AT&T's website and wondered if there was a better way. I have an old GoPhone w/ SIM laying around is there anything I can do with that? Thanks for the help.
I guess this is the correct place to ask. I'm still on Unlimited Data with my iPhone4, so if I add the $20.00 Tethering package, do I still have a 2GB cap/limit?
