Info on it has just been released to the CSR's and additional info. is available to ATTM employees on the internal Dashboard screen.

Supposedly Thei 'internet Connection Sharing' icon was deleted off the Blackjack's 'settings' or 'programs' screen at the request of Cingular. However people soon found the 'missing' program and added the icon back. 'Internet Connection Sharing' replaced the 'wireless modem commection' tab or icon in later builds of WM5 and carriered over to WM6. This change occoured because MS switched from using the DUN profile to PAN profile as it preferred methoud of connecting devices.

Since implamentation of DER is new, I would think (guess) a user would be able to use a lesser device than for the profile he setup. for example person with PDA connect could use a PDA, Smartphone, or standard phone.

I am using the Blackjack. Not sure if it's available for other phones but mine was located: start/applications/file explorer/windows hit L twice then scroll up to the I's. It should be there if it's available.

    BTW I am on WM5.
Does anyone know if Cingular has released the WM6 update and is it free?

    Tethering with Media Max 200

I've had an interesting situation develop and was hoping that someone could offer an explanation. While in Albuquerque, NM I signed up online for Media Max 200 with my Samsung A707 (Cingular Sync). I was able to tether my laptop and connect to the internet for approximately 5 minutes before I lost the connection. I tried for the next 3 days to connect to the internet and was never able to. I tried all the settings mentioned on this forum. The phone could connect to the internet fine and the link between phone and laptop was fine. I tried with both a USB cable and Bluetooth to no avail. I also tried 3 different software programs: Samsung PC Studio 3, Cingular Communication Manager and BlueSoleil (which came with my Bluetooth dongle). I was using Bluetooth routinely to sync my contacts so that link was fine. After 3 days I gave up and disabled Media Max 200. Recently while in Denver, CO I signed up again online for Media Max 200. I was able to tether successfully and connect to the internet using Bluetooth. The internet connection has worked fine without problems ever since. My hope was to use Media Max 200 while traveling from time to time. Cingular charges for the actual days of usage so it can be pretty economical if you turn it on only when needed. I'm hoping for some plausible explanation as to what caused this behavior.

    Hello,

My contract with cingular ends in september, right now I'm looking into whether I want to switch to t-mobile and probably get the sidekick3 since they have cheap plans OR get the 8525 with Cingular since it's 3G.

I'm wondering though is the t-mobile edge internet comparable to cingulars 3G? Also when I looked at the monthly rates for the 8525 on the Cingular website it came out to $80 bucks a month which is tad pricey for me, does anyone know some sort of loophole or discount I might be able to get through this so I can get a cheaper monthly bill.

I'm also considering the Sprint SERO plans, does anyone know if it's possible to just walk into the store with the unlocked phone(8525) and would they be willing to set me up on a SERO plan for 35 a month?

    Thank you!

AT&T's/Cingulars EDGE is reported to be a bit faster than T-Mobile. The 8525 is a GSM phone and won't work on Sprint or Verizon. Also the 3G radio in the 8525 will only work with AT&T.

What phone do you have currently? Do you plan to buy the 8525 with a new contract (subsidized), or are you going to pay cash for it.

Here's the scam. You go in and add the MediaMax 200 plan to your current phone, but of course, your current phone must be able to use a data plan.

After adding the MM200 plan, pick up an 8525, and just drop your SIM in. Your plan follows the SIM. Just make sure the 8525 is set to use the WAP.CINGULAR APN, not ISP.CINGULAR.

The 8525 's UMTS-HSPDA is tri-band, it also has 2100mhz coverage so it will work overseas on other 3G networks.

I'd go with AT&T and the 8525, now that AT&T is buying Dobson Communications, they will have an even larger native calling area. Also ATTM's UMTS with HSDPA level 1 had a max download speed of 1.8M and a max upload speed of 386K. That speed is faster than Sprints EVDO and on par with the newer EVDO Rev A. Cingular is updated its HSDPA to 3.6 and 7.2M down, but you will need new devices to support those faster speeds. ATTM has already started these upgrades, other companies have promised to upgrade - TMO with its 1700 / 2100 plans and Sprint with its WiMAX plans , but neither company has actually put those plans into play. I think you would like the 8525 almost everything on it can be updated officailly or unoffically

Corrrect, I should have been more specific by stating that AT&T/Cingular is the only U.S. carrier that can make use of the 8525's 3G radio.

Does MediaMax 200 for 19.99 allow the use of java apps or is it barred to only medianet? I'd like to use gmail app and gmap app and operamini on my razr while i wait for my n95 to get here and it says it needs a data connection which it has. Are the settings f'ed or something/not setup correctly?
