I'm posting right now from an unlocked T-Mobile MDA, their version of the 8125 with MediaNet. Some chicken littles will say the AT&T Mobility Police will get you but you will be okay unles you go psycho with your data usage. For light surfing and e-mail and stuff you will be okay. It's just using obscene amounts of data. If you use 70 megs a day you will have problems. If, like me, you use 2-3 megs a day you will have no problems. Make sure you use wap.cingular instead of isp.cingular.

    Data Plan Questions...

I'm going to bet purchasing a Blackberry Pearl and I will be needing unlimited internet and unlimited text. What am I looking at cost wise? Is unlimited text included in any Blackberry Plan? I dont need access to corporate e-mail or any thing business oriented.

No - so your costs would be $29.99 for BIS Plan + $19.99 for Unlimited SMS. - so ~ $50/month just in data charges before taxes.

I've heard there is a 10 dollar add on for 1000 or 1500 text. I could work with that.

Dash is a smartphone, Just like the BlackJack. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise. Smartphone Connect and Max will work fine as well the Media Max Packages.

    SmartPhone/PDA data plans

2 of my phones are now out of contract and I'm going to use my upgrade to get a SmartPhone or PDA. I'd like to use the phone to mostly read my gmail, browse some forums, and place amazon.com orders.

Can I get a SmartPhone for phone #1 and get a regular data plan for phone #2 and then switch the SIM cards. Would this allow me to use internet without a smartphone data plan.

If not which data plan should I choose?

Ok, is it 1000 or 1500 text? Can you add Unlimited M2M Texting to this?

There's 2 codes in that thread - 1 is 1000 any messaging and the other is 1500 SMS (no MMS, etc.). WRT M2M texting - you should be able to add that to ANY package.

Geez. Do some work for yourself! Go to the website and check it out, or go to a Cingular store and ask!

According to Cingular, you need a PDA connect plan for the Smartphone/PPC. That is $39.99 a month I think.
