I just change from PDA Connect Unlimited to Media Max Unlimited. It cost the same but with Media Max Unlimited I got unlimited MMS and SMS feature too. Hopefully this package work with my Treo 750. I do not Tether my phone at all, I used around 100MB a month just to check my e-mail. Hopefully I would not be flagged.
What is the consensus, with a BlackJack can you simply use the MediaMax 200 plan, without any problems? Does any setting in the BlackJack need to be changed in order to avoid pay per use charges?
I have an 8525 and have the MediaMax plan. I use my phone almost exclusively to check email. I told them that when I got the phone and was "allowed" to get that plan. If I need to call 611 I still get the, "you've not got the right plan" line, but they never change it after I tell them I do almost totally email.
As for the Blackjack....if it works for me, it should work for you.

Just make sure that the IMEI in your account is from another regular phone (like a Nokia 6126 or a RAZR) and just go online and select the MediaMax yourself.
Be careful with the Cingular Connection Manager, I haven't used it in over a year, so I'm not sure the latest version is the same, but it used to default to the isp.cingular apn. I messed with it alittle got a nasty surprise on my next bill. I called CS and played dumb, and they removed the charges. I haven't touched it since, use Nokia PC Suite and be safe.
I was accidently using ISP.CINGULARGPRS for a couple days and when I looked at my data used on the OLAM, it showed 87m of pay per use data being used, and I have Media Max 200. I called up and the csr said she'd make a note on my account and that I should call when I get my bill to have it adjusted. I played dumb as well, but she just said "yeah, that's odd. I don't know why that would happen since you have unlimited data". In other words, make sure you're using WAP.CINGULAR.
Looks like a good place to ask a question that's been bothering me for a while.
How much does it cost to simply connect to the "net" on a 700 minute family plan, without a MediaNet package? As in, pressing the middle button on my CU500 and getting the weather/news, etc. I'm afraid to use it if they are going to charge me some huge fee for doing so. Thanks!

That's why they block access to ISP.CINGULAR because the MediaMax plans are not supposed to use that APN. That's why it charges you per Kb. However, we know Cingular's network is not consistent across markets and that's why some customers on MediaMax plans still have access to ISP.CINGULAR.

In a simple word, it will cost you A LOT! Usage per kilobyte adds up very quick! Trust me, you don't want to try it.
I am going to living in Miami for about one month, and I was wondering if it was possible to get the Cingular Laptop Connect (Unlimited) for one month?
I already own an unlocked Sierra Wireless AirCard 860, so obviously I don't want to buy a Cingular-branded one.
But would they even consider allowing me to get the service for only one month AND use my current card?
To the person from Canada. Use a regular phone to sign up for GoPhone Pick Your Plan, choose a voice plan then add unlimited MediaNet. Stick the SIM in your AirCard and you're good to go. They can shut you off for that per the TOS but I doubt they will within a month.
